What rare game does /vr/ own?
"Rare" means "popular" now, eh?
>EarthBound
>rare
More like overpriced and overhyped.
Haven't you guys ever heard of rare earth(bound)s?
It's not really rare, just high demand
>>3523893
Bought this bad boy for $280
>>3523908
You fucking idiot
Check out this rarity
scooped it up for $3,000 on ebay
>>3523893
>>3523908
You paid far more than market price for a destroyed label.
>>3523913
Daaamn son, that's a steal. SMB AND Duck Hunt? Hot damn.
I don't have much in terms of rare stuff. Most uncommon games I have are Dragon Warrior IV and SNES Sunset Riders.
>>3523912
Try to contain your jealousy
I have for the snes:
F-zero
Super mario World
Donkey kong country 3
Megaman X2
Mario kart
Super mario RPG
Porky pig haunted holydays
Is one of those rare?
>>3523946
No.
>>3523946
Look at this guy...............
>>3523946
Mega Man x2 is uncommonish
Sorry, but I only buy fun games.
>>3523908
dam anon, that's way too much. I only paid 120 for mine 5 years ago.
>>3523961
20 bucks for me... 17 years ago.
Would have to ask ma how much she paid for it. Christmas present as a kid
>>3523946
DKC3 is a Rare game.

mario world for the nintendo 64 i payed $599 usd for it
Shinrei Jusatsushi Taromaru (Saturn), Bakuretsu Muteki Bangai-O (N64), Neon Genesis Evangelion Iron Maiden (PC, DVD version)
>>3523893
Destruction Derby 2
for Saturn.
These are apparently rare
>>3523893
I have a miracle piano for the NES.
Two random prototypes from my collection. Great Battle Cyber (90%) and Labyrinth (Ver.01) for Famicom.
>>3523946
Mario RPG is uncommon
I have Team Buddies PAL version complete in box and fantastic condition. Cost me 1ā¬ at a flea market.
I don't know if it's rare but I also have Snatcher Pilot Disk for PCE CD
Hmm i own a Dutch version of Lufia 2 (released as just lufia here)
Anyone know if its rare?
>>3524252
When they produced around 200k copies for the US and the game sells for more than Ninja Gaiden with 1/4th of that print.
When did retards take shitty youtube videos that claim Earthbound is rare at face value?
After taking out a loan to pay my rent I now own this baby, tmnt tournament fighter beta prototype
>>3524373
But it may have been a prototype for the Oceania region... meaning that it was already polished up from the American version unless you have found more differences.
>>3524031
Subtle. Vintage?
>>3524389
Oh yea I forgot the guts were a mass produced PCB. That's right.
What was that component wired to the board though?
>>3524031
So is Golden Eye 007. Good thing they didn't call it Pyrite Eye.
>>3524252
>meme
Just fucking burn your house down already. Cunt.
Magic Knight Rayearth
Demon's Crest
MegaMan 6
None of those are rare really.
>>3524375
You're not very good at identifying samefaggotry. Like, at all.
Isn't vary rare. but...
Final Fanasy 3 and Super Mario RPG
I have a SNK-G Garou rental cart. Does anyone else have one:?
i've got a loose panic restaurant. Apart from that, i have sculptors cut on n64 and a complete earthbound.
Meh, AMA i guess (how i got the games etc).
Aero Fighters SNES CIB.
I picked up this emaculate final fight at a flea market for only 60 bucks, what a steal!
>>3524312
Nah, not really. You can find it easily, even more so than most SNES RPGs in europe.
>>3524975
Give you 50 for it. 100 in store credit.
>>3524018
bought mine a Toys r us on clearance - $9.94
still go it the whole shebang
F Zero sealed mint condition
most of my rare games are snes
I have plenty of uncommon shit...but stuff that's actually "rare"
e.v.o.
Dracula x
ninja gaiden trilogy
even though chrono trigger is common I do have it mint cib which is kind of rare.
I actually sold my Saturn and games a few weeks ago which included Saturn bomberman and megaman for Saturn which are both pretty rare.
>>3525226
Fuck you ian
>>3524650
I enjoyed watching them take bait so hard tho
>>3525251
F-zero had multiple printings throughout the SNES lifespan. It is far from rare.
Yume Kojo Doki Doki Panic (what was later turned into Super Mario Bros 2 in the U.S.)
Dreamcast:
Street Fighter III 3rd Strike
Saturn:
Resident Evil
More uncommon than anything, i'm not a rich man. Why do I torture myself with Saturn.
>>3525256
Is Saturn Megaman worth the hunt?
one of these and a few other GB games CIB
>>3524398
Terrible. Take a lap.
>>3523923
Damnnn that Capri Sun is rare as fuck!
I inherited my brothers collection and sold off the best bits for a good amount
all the finaru fantajies, earthbound, both chrono cross and trigger, ys, basically every good and rare RPG since the late 1980s
>>3524485
What the hell is this??
my rarest games would be something on the cdi or 3do id assume
my most valuable is tron bonne
>>3525226
In this day and age you'd have to be a retarded cuck to actually trade in rare games like that to a game store
>oh, uh, $47 in credit for all these CIB SNES rpg's sounds pretty good, I'll take it
Still missing the Hikaru disc variant for Magic Knight Rayearth.
Earthbound is NOT rare
It is however in demand
there is ample supply and the price is hilariously inflated by people
>>3525751
Dang yo.
>>3524252
Expensive /= Rare
These puppies. Of course the Rockman/Forte English cart is a repro, but the rest are legit.
The rarest thing I actually own and that I've held onto is probably a copy of Rez for PS2.
I had a copy of Ghoul Patrol, had it since I was a kid, real shitty game. Turns out, it's rare or something. Sold that puppy to some chap in Mexico for 160 bucks. Bought a copy of X2 and Chrono Trigger with the money.
Some of my goodies
I threw Earthbound on there because this "rare" game seems to be in almost every picture
>>3525865
i know this is probably bait but i have to say it.
the mega man 7 and x3 are bootlegs
>>3525934
>X3 bootleg
Come on. You can't just fake a Cx4 chip. At the very worst, it was a modified X2 cart.
>>3525924
I love how you have this nice, evenly spaced layout of games, then you were like "oh shit, I hafta put Earthbound in there" and just slapped it dead center of the pic. Regardless, good collection!
I bought Suikoden II the day it came out. I threw it away like 6 years ago because I didn't care about physical media now that piracy and emulators existed, and don't want to end up a fucking hoarder. Little did I know there were dummies who buy 'rare' games for hundreds of dollars on ebay. I guess I'm the dummy after all.
>>3525961
I just sold a copy for $120
>>3525951
Well yeah I threw the Earthbound on there as a joke lol
>>3525939
well ok then its label has been replaced
>>3525939
It's at least a replacement label, the esrb rating is white on my authentic copy...
The rarest PC-E game I own. I'm saving up for a trip to Japan and hopefully, I can get some good deals on the rarer and more expensive PC-E and Saturn games.
If I find one of the other Cotton games with the teacup, I'm buying it no questions asked.
My roommate has some cool games, Mega Man X, Link to the Past, King of Dragons, Turtles in Time. I don't know how rare any of those are, I also would feel awkward taking a picture of a box in his closet, there were more I can't remember though.
>>3525718

I sold some of my more rare titles to buy more systems to collect cheap games on (PCE and Sega CD) not sure if that was a great idea seeing how prices have gone but I can play burned rondo now so, worth it.
Would have been Team Buddies, but the guy who sold it to me got me and another buyer's address mixed up. He then got banned after the other guy opened a case on ebay. Bad day for every one involved.
>>3524121
F-Fuck off!Not like I actually give a fuck, ness and famicom are both shit systems when compared with something like pc-98
Check this out. Says it's a demo, but the full game is on there, so who knows what it really is.
>>3523957
Where is DKC2?
>>3526026
bad day for everyone except the other guy who made a fair bit of cash. what did you pay?
Fuck, I wish I still had my King's Field copy, I don't know how rare those games are all around but it's the only game I've never seen another copy outside of mine or Amazon.
>>3526087
Oh well.
clayfighter sculptors cut ($2 at goodwill, still has a blockbuster sticker on the back)
popful mail (sega cd, disc only)
ghoul patrol (snes, cart only)
splatterhouse (turbografx, CIB)
splatterhouse 2 (genesis, box and cart)
ocarina of time and majoras mask collectors editions both CIB
phantasy star (master system, CIB)
vertical force (virtual boy, CIB)
mystical ninja goemon (n64, CIB)
nights into dreams with 3d controller (saturn, CIB)
hyperchase (vectrex, CIB)
journey to the promised land exodus (NES)
>>3524375
DK3 still is a Rare game though. Prove us wrong.

Mine. Rare enough?
I have original first print of Night Trap in factory shrink wrap, unopened. The game itself might not be all that rare, but it's unopened so it might be worth something. I've seen similar set sold in ebay for like 250 euros.
I've got an Ocarina of Time gold cartridge for the N64. Not sure about how "rare" it is, but I got it for $35, so I figure that's pretty good (considering the cheapest listing I could find online was $50). Doesn't have the box or manual but the label is perfect.
>>3526806
Sorry man, but that is very common.
>>3526806
funny thing, there are gold cartridge prints of all three n64 versions of ocarina of time at least in north america. they continued producing both flavors of plastic after the launch batch. if you look at the back and you see a machine stamped two numbers, no letters, then you have v1.0.
>>3527001
Whys that funny?
>>3525924
Apparently the non-shiny Lunar 1 is more rare than the shiny version (unless it's one of the special picture disc versions).
WD fucked around too much with these picture discs, they released like 10 different variations of Lunar 1.
>>3527007
because everyone who owns a gold cart thinks it's the super rare preorder only version of the game for some reason. I've seen it marked up $30 above the gray cart at some reseller stores, when the gray cart was v1.0.
>>3527018
Makes WD collecting a joy
>>3527037
Do you actually own more than one copy of the same game for "WD collecting" sake?
>>3527050
I used to have a couple Dragon Force, Lunar SSSC and Arc The Lad variants but I sold all the extras because I needed cash at the time. Never really bothered to to reacquire them because I think it's senseless.
>>3527073
You have reached a new level of vidya collecting autism.
>>3527083
Okay?
>>3527001
New poster here. My Ocarina is stamped with "19" on the back, is there something special about v1.0? I bought it at EB and they gave this bag with the game, but I cannot find the stickers/tattoos ...
>>3525968
I love this series, but somehow the price appears to be insane now. I remember passing up on Rainbow Cotton for the Dreamcast because reviews at the time were pretty harsh towards it, and I passed it up when I was able to afford it as it came out thinking of the money I'll save. My friend however, had the same thought as I: "just because Cotton has got so much character I'm buying it anyway" went ahead and did so. I could try to convince him to sell it to me, don't think he knows how much they go for now. If you find a reasonably priced Panorama Cotton in Japan, get an extra for me.
>>3525751
I am so jealous you have Keio Flying Squadron. I always wanted that game ever since I saw pics in Gamefan magazine, but I cannot afford a SegaCD at the time, and the one game would not justify it. A few years later I found a JVC X'eye in an alley (yes, I am that poor I get my gaming systems this way) and could finally play SegaCD games, but Keio was already priced over $100, the finishing line to get the game keeps moving further and further away from me.
As for the topic of the thread, I don't think I have any rare games. I do not have any prototypes, and I am kind of envious of those with them. I wish I owned Earthbound, I keep hearing/reading it is so good (own/love the other two "perfect" SNES games in Chrono Trigger and Super Metroid, in fact Chrono Trigger was my first ever preorder because of the hype, but Earthbound was advertised with scratch and sniff bad smells and marketing taglines of "this game stinks" and I missed out opting to get other stuff). I saw a local pawn store having Earthbound for $240USD cartridge only, which is at least $200 more than I can afford, so I have to consider the game to be rare for me.
These are probably the 'rarest' (or rather most expensive) games i have, got a bunch of other gems
>>3527125
Cotton is cute. I have a prototype cartridge of the SFC game.
Don't know if it really qualifies as "rare" but I have a copy of this. Inherited it from my grandmother.
>>3525751
Shit, mine's Umi.
>>3527050
>>3527037
I never knew WD discs differed until I noticed my friend's Dragon Force had awesome Teiris art and I got the shitty Amerimanga styled one.
Funny thing, I don't collect games, I just happen to kept a lot of my old stuff because Gamestop only offered me at best $5 for my games, so I figure I can squeeze out $5 worth of fun keeping the games. I love playing these games.
>>3527141
Agreed. That is very cool! That's the rare stuff I am envious, even jealous, of seeing/hearing about. Stories like how a guy bought a US N64DD or clear orange Xbox through garage sales because they live in Seattle where they are headquartered. So tough for me living in the middle of nowhere in a red state to ever have a chance to get anything of the sort. How did you come by that prototype?
>>3527139
That right there is over a year of work for me not counting in taxes and assuming I don't spend on necessities. I hate flipping burgers for minimum wage, but it is all I am smart enough to do.
>>3527198
Believe me i probably earn less than you do, but i got the games through ebay over the years, wasn't that easy
>bought a snes lot with snes+ cables/controllers, bunch of shitty snes games and gb games for almost 200 bucks
>all I wanted was Trip World (really small in between)
I guess I was the only one who looked closely at the pictures, and I did not feel bad because it was a reseller selling like 10 times similar lots
>he did not know ;^)
So I picked out the game i wanted and auctioned the rest away again, which brought me a cheap Trip World.
I did something similar with the little samson and snow brothers, but at that time i was cruising on ebay all day every day, if you got time and effort you can get stuff cheap(er)
>>3527198
No interesting story, just got it from an auction a while ago. I find prototypes to be some of the most interesting gaming things since they often show a more human side of game development, before they became neatly labeled and mass produced. Just hand assembled carts with sloppy labels (if any labels) with sometimes incomplete game code.
Pretty neat that you found something like that just thrown out.
I'm pretty sure Wonderswan games are the rarest I have, yet they aren't very expensive, I guess because "collectors" don't speak Japanese.
>>3523893
Battletoads
>>3527125
>is there something special about v1.0?
some minor glitches and oddities/animations were fixed in 1.1, but the censorship stuff (green blood, wrench instead of moon and star icons, and changed fire temple music) all came with 1.2, which is less common as a cart and more widely known from being in the GC and Wii releases
the only thing you can really do gameplay wise is skip almost all of the adult trade sequence on 1.0 by holding R when you talk to king zora.
Most of the stuff in this thread isn't even remotely rare, just expensive. But they are always available constantly.
Probably this
Most of my stuff is just uncommon, not actually rare. The only truly rare thing I have in my collection is Valis Complete. Although I've got a few ancient model kits that may be rare now if they weren't when they were new.
Not games but for accessories I have TeeV golf for SNES with box, manual, Justifier and pink 2nd gun with with boxes and a shrink wrapped BatterUp.
>>3527496
I'm pretty jealous for some reason.
I have a black label version of Mortal Kombat Trilogy for PlayStation. Don't know if it's actually rare though.
>>3527139
How much did you pay for that Little Samson?
>>3527156
Yeah apparently Umi and Fuu are more "common". I still have never come across the Hikaru variant but I know its out there.
>>3527050
Yes, to be fair its really all I collect now. Also all the ps1 and saturn games from working designs have variant discs as well. It gets ridiculous with all the different discs/behind the disc art variants. Arc the Lad Collection is the worst one by far. It has variants for the fucking ps1 memory card labels/memory card holder (i cant remember which at the moment) that came with it
I bet none of you fags own the rarest console of all time, the NES-001.

The Misadventures of Tron Bonne is probably my rarest.
The rarest thing I own is probably my Tommy Hilfiger GBC.

The rarest thing I have is the NiGHTS into Dreams controller bundle, but that's not rare.

It's a robot replacement part. She lost her real cooch in an experiment involving a nuclear powered dildo.
>>3529258

Those are like children to her! They ARE children to her!
>>3529293
No, they are robots made to serve her needs (thes are literally called serve-bots). Walking vibrators with artificial intelligence.
I'm more worried about the Reaverbot.
#1 Deep Fear (Saturn)
#2 Iron Storm Nazi Edition
feels good man
#3 A few other rare PAL-games for Saturn
#4 these are also pretty rare i guess
Would Felix the Cat on NES count? I personally feel like its just over hyped and got super popular for some reason as I distinctly remember it was like 15$ game when I first got it. Now its randomly like 70$ in some places.
Beyond that I know everything else I have has just randomly shot up in price or is just really popular now.
Who ever is driving the price of Dracula X on SNES needs to stop though.
I have some expensive Games, which one of them is actually rare and which ones just expensive?
- Metalstorm
- Tetris Tengen
- Spike McFang
- Ninja Warriors Again
- DuckTales 2
- Uniracers
- Demon Crest
- Chrono Triggered
- Megaman x2 and 3
None of them cib or mint condition
>>3529487
DuckTales is uncommon, Chrono Tiggered is both, and Megaman x2 can cost a some amount
>>3529487
>Megaman x2 can cost a some amount
X3 is worth over twice as much and is far more rare. X3 is a great find if it's in decent shape. Even if the label is torn off though, it's still worth a good 200 bucks.
Rare Replay, for the Xbox One! HAHAHAHAHA
Just kidding, Namco Museum Volume 5 for PS1

not much of value is lots unless it's not well emulated or something unique like nintendo ds. i have ds, psp and vita, and only vita and ds are worth keeping. even owning only handhelds, i'd rather prefer to have it all in one device(my laptop).
There is an ebay listing for a Mega Man X 1, 2, and 3 combo cart, but the bottom pins don't have the teeth for an enhancement chip... sooooo wtf? Surely this is a fake.

Hardly... it's only 1 of about 30 super expensive SNES carts. Would you say the same thing for the other 29?
I hear that Space Megaforce, R-Type III, and Pocky & Rocky 2 are expensive now, but I don't know or care how much or how rare they are.
Shooting for rarity isn't my thing, I just try to get good games.
>>3532939
Why the fuck are Space Megaforce and Raiden 3 so expensive now? I've been looking for a copy of both for a while and its driving me batshit.
