>Halloween Thread
Okay anons, what are the coolest halloween-themed retro games out there to play in the spooky month of october? Or just games with halloween elements in them, e.g. pumpkin-plants in SMW.
Animal Crossing in October is fun.
Harvest Moon 64 and Back to Nature also have a Halloween-ish festival iirc.

Im glad ou made this thread, i love halloween and spent some time playing horror vidya.
pic related is my choice for this year, i bought it just for this halloween, its great fun and great balance between horror elements and quirky humour.
Other games i will be playing this halloween are:
-Friday the 13th
-zombies ate my neighbors
And i wish i had nightmare on elm street to play with friends.

I never got why they always make "baby" versions of franchises. I'm fine with SD/chibi versions, but is it me or baby versions are always garbage, if you don't count Tiny Tunes?
Despite being only recognized for its uncensored beta version, Monster Party is a decent 2D platformer that's pretty spooky and still a decent amount of bloody 8-bit gore, although again it isnt as excessive as its beta version.
Super Ghouls n' Ghosts is a fucking blast, although it can be quite rage-inducing. This is what I'll be playing on Halloween!

I can never get over how surreal the soundtrack for this game is.
Everything sounds like an accident, like these were supposed to be normal-sounding tracks, but they ended up being ever so slightly "off" sounding. You would need to have a very firm understanding of how to make music sound uncanny the way it does here. Otherwise, there was no way this was intentional, I would find it very hard to believe.

I considered posting that one but didn't end up doing so because even though it has monsters it's not really horror/Halloween themed. Same reason why I didn't post say, King of Monsters despite it also having monsters. Monster in my Pocket is a great game though, truly Konami at the top of its game with the NES.
>>3518812
I'll bet, I've been looking for a real copy of it for years but the few NES games I don't yet have rarely turn up in the wild around here and not resorting to eBay is half the fun of retro gaming for me.

I like to replay Yoshi's Island around this time of the year. I got it back at release in october of 95, so I always associate it with this season. World 6 was kind of halloween-y, with the whole autumn colors and the dreary atmosphere (Yoshi skulls and bones lying on the ground and what not.)
But otherwise the game feels like spring.

So, do you guys celebrate Halloween in your country? I have noticed that more and more countries started to assimilate it, probably because it is fun to dress up and eat candy
Addams Family
>>3522879
Only superficially, we've always been familiar with halloween due to TV (I remember all the cartoon network halloween specials back then), but we never really celebrate it, but as you say some kids do the whole dress up and candy thing, and there is a kind of market for that during halloween, pushed by costume shops and candy makers, I guess.
But culturally, we're not familiar with it, right now it's all sunny and beautiful outside, full blossom. There is no atmosphere for halloween.
But christmas in summer is even weirder. We do celebrate that one.
>>3522883
This game is great.

Sadly trick-or-treating has become much less popular in the USA.
Still, confirmed for best holiday.

You took the words out of my mouth, man. I remember the first time I played it. I felt there was something unusual about the game since the beginning, not sure what, but I kept going. The underwater ruins was the part where I began to realize how uneasy I really was, like my room became colder all of a sudden, and it didn't help that I was alone.
