I worked at a used game store a few years back. One of those came through and I tested it. Loved it.

Would never pay eBay prices for one though.

Can you just take a Gamecube controller and spray the AB buttons to match the 64 colour scheme?
I guess that still leaves the fact that the GC controller doesn't have a good trigger for shooters

I recently acquired one and love it. Granted, I've only had time to test it on Super Mario 64, but I think it's well worth the money.

are the handles the same size as the regular 64 controller? They look to be, I suspect it's an illusion that it looks smaller because it lacks the giant middle handle

I got a nice used one from a store in Japan recently. I find it much, much more pleasant to use than a standard N64 controller, though if you have big hands you might not like it as much. The stick feels like a GameCube controller but slightly lighter.

You're probably better off just getting a GameCube controller adapter if you're stuck paying eBay prices, but if you can manage to snag one for a reasonable price it's definitely worth it.

I always wondered about these pads myself. Tried replacing the anolog on the original n64 controller but it just didn't have the resistance. Felt too loose if that makes sense?
I waited until one of these pads come up on ebay pretty cheap and got it. It's absolutely perfect as long as you don't need the d-pad. Feels even better than the original n64 pad.

You can rapid shoot just as fast in night fire, my man.

The slide also acts as an input, and since it naturally pops back into neutral position you can snap it super fast.
