Hey /vr/, show me your favorite arcade games.
Here's the template. Pick one game for each of these companies.

>>3501669
Undercover Cops > Ninja Baseball
I have some weird taste.
>love rail shooters, but only when played on arcade cabinet with the original gun.
>love fightan games, but only when played against a human opponent (i.e. not vs the AI).
>love old school horizontal shmups but not danmakus.
>love beat them ups.
Choosing my fav SNK game was hard because I have some fond memories of me playing Sengoku 2 with strangers as a kid. Breakers still gets the first place because of all the times I played it with my best friend at the arcade while we were drunk as fuck. Condor is the best.
>>3501669
man, Namco was hard to pick
>>3501979
>Nintendo
Why? Williams, Midway, and Atari were more notable.
>>3502161
Nintendo invented videogames. That's pretty damn notable.
>>3502165
I know you're joking, but most Americans actually believe that.
>>3502194
>Parodius
>Metal Slug
>OutRun
>GnG
My niggy.
Not gonna make one cause I'm lazy as fuck
Also going to go Fighter - Non-Fighter because what the heck, only for like Capcom, SNK and shit
>Capcom
Street Fighter Alpha 2, Mega Man The Power Battle
>Data East
Windjammers
>IREM
R-Type
>Konami

>SNK
The Last Blade, Metal Slug X
>Taito
Puzzle Bobble
>>3502161
I really, really like the DK arcade game
>>3502416
Why? It isn't particularly good and was archaic when it came out.
>>3501734
Not him but mechanically Ninja Baseball is better, Undercover Cops has sick aesthetics though
Please forgive the lack of Sega on my list. I really am not very familiar enough with their games despite my love of the Genesis and Saturn. It makes no goddamn sense, I know...!
>>3501746
>Silent Scope
MY FUCKING NIGGA
Pls no bully.
>>3501703
well shit what's the point of me posting if yours is exactly the same
>>3501732
>>Taito
>Ninja-Kid
FYI it's from UPL (published by Taito)
Can we count arcade games made on certain hardware, but not developed by the guys that created that hardware?
>>3503586
people are posting metal slug for their snk selection, so apparently yes
>>3502416
Donkey Kong arcade is overrated garbage compared to the far superior arcade games that were coming out at the time. Nintendo were a fucking joke when it came to arcade games. Good thing they had their consoles and handhelds or they would have fallen into obscurity.
>>3503976
What are some other good arcade platformers released before DK?
>>3504043
Crazy Kong.
I've kinda cheated by putting Contra and Super Contra. I like both, but if I have to narrow it down, I would pick Super Contra.
It's been awhile since I've last played most of the SNK library extensively, but I remember really liking Sengoku for some reason.
>>3504130
Rolling Thunder is so fucking tough
>>3501703
Generic / 10
>>3504276
hipster / 10
>>3501732
Barring Ghouls, those are awful selections dude.
>>3504276
Great counter chart there.
>>3504294
What's wrong with Windjammers and Samurai Shodown V?
Some of these companies is not an easy pick
Eh. Would to have liked western devs on the template. No Robotron, Gauntlet, STUN Runner, etc.
>Capcom
DarkStalkers 3
>Data East
Burger Time
>IREM
Kung Fu (Play choice 10 ver)
>Konami
X-Men
>Namco
Mr. Driller
>SEGA
Daytona USA
>SNK
METAL SLUG 3
>TAITO
The New Zealand Story
>>3503295
two people that likes salamander 2 over other konami games?? that's the worst game in whole gradius legacy...no maybe it's gradius IV
I somehow have never played a single Data East game.
>>3504257

a bit of trivia here, to make your morning more challenging
Arcade publisher tier list
>God tier
Sega, Namco, Taito, Williams
>Good tier
Irem, Data East, Midway, Atari, Capcom
>Meh tier
Konami, Rare, SNK
>Bad tier
Nintendo
>>3507454
Does anyone even consider Nintendo an arcade company when they pretty much abandoned the coin-op industry after the Famicom was introduced? They don't even offer emulated versions of their original arcade games on the Virtual Console.
>>3508112
Nintendo turned their back on arcade games entirely. Too bad for the little Nintendo fanboys. They'll have to live with the fact that Nintendo are shit tier when it comes to arcade games. They'll never be held in high regard by the arcade game community.
>>3508363
I'm just mad they never released the actual arcade versions of Donkey Kong and Mario Bros. on VC, so they just pretend that the NES versions were always the original.
>>3508375
Those dirty scumbags.

>>3501669
On the topic of arcades:
Hapl!
me don't understand!
>>3509294
Just play the main revision. Usually for Konami games the japanese versions (JAA/JAC) are the easiest ones. The other versionas are Usa and Europe (UA, EA)
>>3507454
>Pre-2000 Konami
>Meh tier
Why though?
>>3509573
yeah, just letting you know for the other games.
no Tempest or GAYBONA USA?
>>3509587
Their games were not good.
>>3509687
Frogger is alright, the rest are rubbish.
>>3509705
said the faggot that put shitty midway over Konami or SNK.
>>3509720
Midway were much better than Konami and SNK. SNK had maybe two games worth playing.
>>3509728
Both companies have beter shooters, run 'n gun, fighters, beat 'em ups and even sport games.
Midway is fucking trash you american retard
>>3509746
>90s shit
Absolutely disgusting.
>>3509756
>he only plays early 80s shit
the definition of sperg, and midway games from that erra were shit anyway.
>>3509774
t. Fighting game nigger with no taste
>>3509776
Except I named like 5 genres before you retarded fuck, not my problem if your shitty company sucks in everything.
>>3509787
>genres
Arcade games make genres, they don't follow them. That's the problem with Konami and SNK, they never made anything.
>>3509791
>meme barcade game
>better than anything
hipster fucks should quit from arcade threads
>>3509796
>muh 125,000th cookie cutter anime fighter is better than unique, creative, and entertaining games
>>3509810
So you just like cookie cutter weeb fighting games. Good to know, you have no taste.
>>3509818
>le fighting games boogie man
already stated that Midway was trash in whatever genre compared to the competitor, can't you read tyrone?
>>3509828
Rampage and Tapper are better than all of Konami and SNK's libraries.
>>3509832
t. american retard with no taste in video games
>>3509834
t. Weeaboo with no taste in games
streetfighter
bad dudes
r type
tmnt
galaga
wonder boy
bubble bobble
plus
gauntlet
golden axe
operation wolf
>>3509849
I don't even watch anime. The quality between americans and japs arcade was somewhat comparable in early 80s arcades, but afterwards american games were garbage compared to japs, to think otherwise is ridiculous.
>>3509863
>>3509864
Because American arcades died after the 80s boom. Only fighting games continued to be successful.
>>3509869
>the fighting games boogieman again
time for bed grandpa, too bad your american companies were too unremarkable to reinvent genres and stagnated fast
>>3509878
Some companies were already out of business and others were just making fighting games. Mortal Kombat II was one of the most successful games ever.
>>3509884
Fighting game's history would have been the same wihout Mortal Kombat, a game that sold because of graphic gimmicks rather than gameplay merits (really makes you think about american audiences). Can't say the same about Street Fighter 2 or KoF.
>>3509896
>KoF
You mean Virtua Fighter? KoF was bland. But, hey, we're not talking about what is revolutionary or not. I simply pointed out that Midway chose to milk a cash cow rather than make new games.
>>3509901
>KoF was bland
Tag team was a big deal, and the mechanics became pretty solid and distinguishable from SF after some time. But yeah I think VF was more revolutionary too.
>I simply pointed out that Midway chose to milk a cash cow rather than make new games.
Which is shit because in early 90s japs developed many great games for a variety of genre, not just fighting games. They also did racing games and light gun titles but they were pretty trassh compared to stuff from Sega or Namco.
>>3509917
The market in Japan was bigger. In America arcades weren't making near enough money outside of fighting games. The risk was too great and the companies were ailing anyway. Atari still made a few decent games into the 90s, but it was easier to exploit the fighting game craze, like Midway and Rare from the UK.
>>3509705
Don't you dare attack Gradius son.
>>3509705
man there's a limit to retardness
any konami game is a masterpiece, I personally dislike all those cartoon graphics belt-scrollers made in the 90s like tmnt asterix simpsons but younger generation loved them
>>3501669
>Ninja Baseball Batman, Outrun, and Outfoxies all on the same list
who the fuck is this
>>3510276
Always sad when the only reply to your post is you.
>>3509728
>Midway were much better than Konami and SNK.
I don't know how anyone could seriously state this and believe it with a straight face. Their games were unbalanced credit muncher made by 'Murricans for 'Murricans with no good taste.
The Mortal Kombat series (at least the original trilogy) are probably the closest thing they ever did to a good series and even then they pale in comparison to the best SNK has to offer.
>Capcom
Knights of the Round
>Irem
Ninja Baseball BatMan
>Konami
Contra
>SNK
Metal Slug
>Taito
Elevator Returns
>>3510270
>belt-scrollers
And here I was starting to read your post like you weren't trolling.
Galaga and Black Tiger, mainly.
Rate me baby!
>>3510431
then how do you call this you stupid fuck
>>3510509
meh/10
>>3501669
what, no midway or atari? I don't even know very many Irem or Taito games.
>>3510917
Also if we were talking about games post 2000, Initial D (3 or 7) would be under SEGA, Silent Scope: Bone-eater would be under Konami.
>>3510917
Also, shit, I forgot that I prefer Gradius 2 over the first one, oh well...
Armored Warriors / Windjammers / Gunforce II / Twinbee Yahoo!
Valkyrie / Space Harrier / Money Puzzle Exchange / Riding Fight
>>3509746
JUDGE DREDD!!!
Man, that game put Guardians of the Hood on notice for worst arcade beatemup. At least it didn't get past prototype.
>>3501669
>Capcom
>Sega
>SNK
>tfw too many to choose from
wat do
>>3516186
Put multiple games in the boxes
>>3509793
What the fuck is that supposed to mean?
Get off of 4chan you sperg.
The autist shitting on Konami is seriously ignorant of Konami's late 90's 3D arcade titles that are obscure due to nonexistant emulation.
Konami were as versatile in 3D as Sega and Namco were.

>>3516829
Didn't a lot of Konami's 3D games from the late 90s ran on an M2-based arcade board? To think that MGS1 was almost developed for that.
I'm really interested in seeing more people fill out this chart
>>3519217
Would you be willing to rate the ones that are already up?
Is there a pack or zip or whatever that has everything initaliased? I tried to get MAME to work but I just can't figure it out.
