Is Paper Mario a good series? Worth checking out?
Yes. First one is quite good, and Thousand Year Door is GOAT. I haven't played any others.
first two are good i wouldn't bother with the rest
STOP FUCKING STOP PLAYING THE SERIES after Thousand Year Door. The others are nothing but fucking trash.
I liked TTYD, but it has so much hype going for it, that it will most likely not be able to live up to it.
The only one I've played is the first, but I thought it was excellent. I guess it's also the only one that belongs on /vr/.

Once you get to the chapter at the wrestling arena, you'll see it lives up to the hype and then some.

Yes OP, it is. Brilliant writing, fun gameplay, and a charming visual style. I recommend playing The Thousand-Year Door (aka TTYD) first, then the original N64 game, then Super Paper Mario. You can also play Sticker Star if you want to but it's not as good.

I played the n64 one for the first time just last month, and had a blast. Quite worth it.

Wrong.
Super is pretty good, despite not being retro and not as good as TTYD and 64.

I've always thought that Super is what the NSMB series should have been. It might not be as incredible as Thousand Year Door, but it's a great hybrid of RPG and platformer

It was
Play Super Mario RPG first to fully appreciate what they did with the series, then Paper Mario, then TTYD. Super is optional and the 3DS game doesn't exist.
yes, but only the newer ones. Super paper mario and sticker star are gems

I popped a few painkillers and now I feel better.
