Did you ever record yourself playing video games on VHS?

I recorded cutscenes and endings.
And passwords.
Not so much regular gameplay though.

Yes, actually. In my theatre class in high school, the big project at the end of the year was to make our own silent movie. I convinced our group to include a joke that was like "we lost the footage to this fight scene, so here's some video game fights instead" I had footage from Final Fantasy IV, Maximum Carnage, Street Fighter II, and a couple other games I can't remember.

I once used pic related to take a screenshot of an NES game in the late 80s for a mail-in contest in a game magazine. I am thinking it was for nintendo power but it may have been early gamepro or something else.

It was actually 70s porn, so it was extra retro. Autobiography of a Flea if I remember right, but that might have been another tape. I used to go into his room and steal his porn all the time, he kept the tapes in a board game box in his closet.
