What happened to them?
>>3484301
I miss old mari character design
Oh me oh my they've been transformed!
Peach invaded their kingdoms and massacred them all for failing her.
>>3484301
good question. they're good characters. would like to see more of them. is king 3 supposed to be mario-looking? my favorite kings are turban king, old english king, and long beard king. honorable mention goes to terrorist king, but it seems kinda gay to like him, so i don't.
>>3484301
Is the third one Mario's dad?
>>3484345
>>3484349
Mario 3 isn't canon. The kooplings aren't even Bowser's children in the new games.
>>3484414
It's canon, I think they just announced it was always intended to be a play, hence the stage curtains.
>>3484414mario 3 was a play the whole time.
>>3484398
DEEPEST LORE
>>3484504
Hey you! How about you lending me your clothes? No dice? What a drag.
wtf is up with the right guy's face
>>3485829
>Not using question marks
>>3485829
He's also missing a left arm.
>>3485850
Sssshhhhh....! He's mentally problematic.
>>3485850
Are you a moron? The question mark is clearly in my image.
>>3484414
keyword is in the new games. Retconning will never ruin SMB3, no matter how much they try.
Am I wrong for seeing this as a gigantic smile in his beard?
>Saruman likes what he sees, yes
>>3486054
That's what it is.
>>3486054
Those are his kneecaps!
So, okay, these guys were kings of their respective regions, meaning SMB3 did not take place in the Mushroom Kingdom. So what was Mario doing there? That would be like sending a US soldier to police Brazil, Japan, India, and Australia. He has no jurisdiction there.
>>3486184
Im pretty sure if some random dude came along and knocked out all the bad guys hed be given a universal visa.
>>3486184
SMB3 took place in the "Mushroom World". So if that's anything to go by, along with this overworld from the advance version, Grass Land, Desert Land, and a majority of Water Land may all be part of the Mushroom Kingdom, but the rest are just a couple of islands off to the side.
>>3486349
>restoring the kings
I don't think so
When Miyamoto confirmed that Mario 3 was just a stage play, I nearly fucking screamed.
Tons of people unaware/unsure for how many fucking years. Over two decades. And then he pops up and confirms it in like, three seconds.
>>3486371
So that means it never happened?!
WHAT THE FUCK
>>3486375
Yeah, that's why all the places don't really have a position/area in actual Mario lore.
Of course, powerups, etc., carried over afterwards, but the majority of it never existed.
It's just a bunch of Mario characters acting out a play. I'm assuming kind of like in Mario Kart, where all the characters kinda put aside differences and act like buddies for a while to do something.
>>3486365
Weren't the populations of those kingdoms majority Koopa during SMB3? Who's to say Bowser wasn't democratically elected by the new migrant population?
>>3484318
yandere peach sounds pretty hot.
>>3486379
Wow, so that game wasn't real?
>>3486379
Just because it was a play doesn't mean it's not based off of a real adventure.
>>3486438
It can't be based off a real adventure when we never see the mushroom land in a video game again.
>>3486445
The Mushroom World is the entire world of Mario. And there's never been consistent locations in Mario games except for crucial landmarks like Peach's Castle and Toad Town.
>>3486451
The mushroom kingdom where almost all the mario games are in is different from the mushroom world we only see in mario 3 and mario 3 cartoon. Mario 3 might as well be considered non canon.
Is jewerly land canon?
>>3486453
But the Mushroom Kingdom isn't what I'm referring to. SMB3 takes place in the "Mushroom World", or really just a small portion of it that includes the 8 worlds of the game. The Mushroom Kingdom probably only covers the first 3 worlds of the game since the rest are mostly islands and world 8 is Bowser's kingdom.
Alternatively, you could assume that "Mushroom World" is the predecessor to the "Mushroom Kingdom" in terms of names and just say that every world (sans World 8) is part of the Mushroom Kingdom. The Kings have subsequently been replaced with things like the Star Spirits, the Star Sprites, etc.
I don't know anything about the cartoon but it's safe to just ignore, just like the SMW cartoon.
>>3486461
It's an island so it's safe to imagine that it exists somewhere out there but has been long forgotten.
>>3486463
The mushroom kingdom is the kingdom that is a gateway to the mushroom world. The mushroom world is 8 countries that are a separate thing from the kingdom itself. Even though the games sometimes refer to the kingdom as mushroom world as well, they're all different sovereign nations.
>>3486474
I'd argue that Grass Land is actually part of the Mushroom Kingdom, if only because the King of it resembles the Mushroom King.
>>3486484
No, it's not. Each of the 8 kingdoms with the 8th one being bowsers kingdom are each treated as their own separate kingdom that's separated from the mushroom kingdom that peach rules.
>>3486461
Woah, what the fuck is that from?
>>3486514
The manual disagrees with you. The manual specifically refers to the mushroom world as separate countries when it mentions that bowers children have been causing trouble in each kingdom of the mushroom world.
>>3486528
The SMB1 manual talks about turning Toads into ? blocks and horsetail plants. Manuals are weak support for anything, especially since it was written before the actual Mushroom Kingdom was a thing.
>>3486371
More like he didn't give a shit at that point anymore and someone just asked him if it was a play and he was like 'uh, sure, why not'
>>3486568
Isn't that a mistranslation? I think it just says they were turned into statues. SMB3's manual is a much more accurate translation.
>>3486054
>saruman
kek
yes, i see the smile too. i'm sure that's intentional.
>>3486336
where does bowser live? underground?
>>3486371
>When Miyamoto confirmed that Mario 3 was just a stage play
wat
citation needed.
>>3486445it's based on a secret virtua boy game that was cancelled when nintendon't realized a terrible mistake had been made. since nintendo refused to release it, some artists conspired to tell the truth via a dramatization. HUH, I WONDER WHERE THEY GOT THE PLOT FROM.
>>3486792
Hell, if SMB3 is any indication
>>3484301
>number 3 looks JUST LIKE mario
DEEPEST
LORE
>>3484301
Nintendo turned to garbage.
How many lands are in Mario's planet? You got the Mushroom Kingdom, Bean Bean Kingdom, whatever the islands were in Sunshine, the Wario Land places, Yoshi's Island/Dinosaur Land, Sarasaland, and I'm sure I'm forgetting a ton.
>>3484301
What is King 6?
Also is King 5 God?
>>3486371
>And then he pops up and confirms it in like, three seconds.
Well, how long exactly does it take to say "it was a stage play"?
>>3486781
I thought it was to explain why all the stage elements in Mario games have an eyeball aesthetic; they used to be a toad
>>3487149
Would make sense seeing as how world 5 has a tower that leads to the "heaven".
