I FUCKING LOVE SUPER MARIO BROS!!!
Who doesn't?
>>3481308
What gave it that retro feel though
>>3481308
It didn't age well.
>>3481326
My SMB/Duck hunt cart still works perfectly, not a single sign of bit rot or anything like that. I'd say it aged well, it's over 30 years already and works fine like the first day.
>>3481308
I'm sure everyone does. It's babby's first platformer. I still can't get past the 8-3 hammer bros. in DX but I will eventually.
>>3481310
I don't actually. I like action platformers like Castlevania or Ninja Gaiden alright, but mostly platform focused games like Mario and Sonic have always just bored me.
>>3481320
>>3481354
Mario is an action platformer (fire flower)
>>3481320
The smooth, high-res sky gradient that the NES was known for.
>>3481367
I think he was making fun of an earlier thread.
>>3481359
It's also a beat em up (cape spin)
>>3481359
Splitting hairs. Whatever you want to call it, I call it boring.
>>3481308
Super Mario Bros is one of the most abstract nonsensical concepts to ever be conceived. It's like if David Lynch was a Japanese programmer talking about plumbers going down pipes, stepping on turtles and grabbing mushrooms and shit. Gotta love it.
>>3481416
You are boring.
yeah me too. Like everyone else here i have like 5 copies of smb/duck hunt and play it on my emulator at work like almost every day.
>>3481426
What amazing insight.
>>3481463
See? Boring.
I'm going to play some Super Mario Bros. to wash the boring sensation out of my hands.
>>3481471
Good luck, dude. That guy was amazingly boring.
>>3481354
autism
>>3481354
Castlevania is massively boring.
At least SMB series has stuff like momentum and inertia and so on. Simon Belmont slides around like he's a rail vehicle, and can't even jump onto stairs, he has to walk all the way to the edge of them and then slide up them and can't even turn around during that process.
>>3481491
>and can't even jump onto stairs
The 16-bit games let you do that, Rondo even lets you jump while on stairs.
Some people might consider that a "casualisation" though.
>>3481491
git gud
This thread got boring real fast
>>3481487
How is that autism? I just liked different kinds of games.
>>3481491
That's a fine opinion to have. I'm not saying I think Castlevania is a better game, or even that Mario Bros is a bad game. Just that it's a game in a somewhat similar style I happened to like more than that one.
>>3481308
Honestly I'm not that into SMB. The later entries like SMW and Yoshi's Island are fantastic, but the first three just kind of feel run of the mill. Perhaps because that kind of platforming style just became so prominent and improved through other games. I'd argue SMB3 is still fun to play (the first game annoys me to no end with it's cute little tricks and level design) but I just can't get into them.
Am I missing something?
>>3481491
Oh yeah, the first games are shit. But 3 is when they start to get good. I'd argue Super Castlevania is one of the best platformers out there. It proves just how fun the concept is with all of the irons kinked out.
>>3481528
You mean casualvania lmao
>>3481531
It is pretty easy, but I'd say it's because the controls weren't so restrictive and needlessly broken this time around. Jumping was better, you could actually aim your whip, you could even use it to swing along ceilings, and they fixed the layouts so that you didn't constantly get bombarded with shit.
It's not challenging, but it's damn fun to play.
brothers i love super mario
>>3481576
>He doesn't like shitty controls
Get a load of this guy
>>3481528
/vr/ is dead when no one even calls out retards
>>3481624
I think it's a good sign that bait that obvious doesn't get taken as much.
>>3481525
How could anyone possibly prefer SMW over SMB3? It literally has nothing better than SMB3 with everything worse. Don't tell me riding that stupid dinosaur is what gets you.
>>3481308
So what is that little mini castle at the end of each level? What does Mario do in there?
>>3482909
WTF you bastards? This nonsensical and short of content thread is still up, and yet my posts about going mildly temporarily insane from playing a this mario hack have all been deleted? What the fuck?
>>3484214
No one cares about your retarded attempt at text-LPing some shitty Mario romhack
>>3484229
hey there slowbeef
>>3484229
No shit, that's why I posted it in an already fully inane thread.
>>3481310
i dont like the little fat bastards either
