I have a lot of Famiclones I've bought for a couple bucks at thrift stores. Paid $4 for one of these the other day but I'd never seen it before. Will pay up to $5 for one of those little handheld firecore mega drives with the sd slot when they start turning up.

As far as stuff you actually have to send away to China for there are some good $5-$7 multicarts especially for famicom if you don't want to cough up $90 for an everdrive and some dinky little dirt cheap (<$10) handheld famiclones with screens that have a lot of built in games.

I'm planning to go to the local flea market this weekend to look for bootlegs like these, is there anything specific that I should avoid?

thanks for reminding me that the gb boy colour exists, op
does anyone have experience with one themselves? i'm especially interested in how the sound compares and if the aspect ratio is bad enough to be distracting
also get a load of this one, it looks awful but awesome somehow

>>
This is definitely relevant to my interests as I've just recently discovered aliexpress, gearbest, etc and spend hours browsing there now
>>
>>3477293
I have one and play it regularly.

The screen is sharp and the illumination is great. As you've heard, the ratio isn't really 100% accurate. It isn't really THAT noticeable unless the game scrolls diagonally or if you are really accustomed to the original screen.

The audio on my unit is nice and loud, I've of people whose speakers were faulty, but it's something you'll notice ASAP (ask a refund if it is!)

If you have no GameBoy to compare it to... I'd say it's a great replacement to play

TEEEEHEEE HAHAHAHAA

>>3477082
thats actually a very good gameboy clone with a backlight.

>>3477082
Before the retro craze there was a ton of shit you'd only see in China or 3rd world shit holes that you could get for a few bucks. Now the chinks are slapping that shit in hipster friendly cases and selling it for 10 times the price. Most of the stuff I bought just a few years ago can't be found anymore.

>>3477746
No, it's not. But thanks for playing.
>>
>trolls trilling trolls trolling trolls
>>
>>3477746
I was thinking about getting a GB Boy Colour, but I decided to get an original instead. The quality varies too much between units, and also the sound chip is a bit fucky.
>>3477336
I'd love to backlight mod an original GBA and use a glow in the dark shell.
>>
>>3477293
I have one gb boy colour, everything is perfect, no problem with sound that seems are louder than a regular gb, the aspect ratio is a bit larger but the scale is not fucked up. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM: THE CHEAP AWFUL QUALITY OF THE PLEXY. in fact, it's a junky chinese piece of the worst plastic that you can scratch only with your breath. I suggest to apply a protective screen immediatly when you open it.

I bought Mucha for like $10 on Ali Express. It's obviously a bootleg from the moment you touch it, but it runs perfectly.

>The audio on my unit is nice and loud
Mine is louder than the original GBC too. My select button is faulty though. It gets stuck if I put too much strength when pressing it, but I can readjust just fine. It seems to me that the GB Boy is a hit and miss buy for what I've heard, quality differing on each unit. I'm really glad I'm on the lucky side.

I want to know where I can actually get a cartridge of this. I've never seen it anywhere. If someone could hack it to have the Metal Slug intro instead of the 9/11 stuff it's otherwise a pretty serviceable port of Metal Slug.

on the internet, "?" gives the idea that you are genuinely confused, while no "?" means you are asking the question sarcastically or mockingly

That's actually a semi official cart from South América, in Venezuela per Example they sold the famicom with a green Converter to play the games on an american NES and, supposedly was endorsed by NINTENDO.

shitty sarcasm aside, are those carts posted good enough to justify the converter as opposed to just going cheaper+easier with a nes cart?

Jeez, why are so many obsessed with the NES and it's big-ass carts? Equivalent Famicom stuff are pretty much always cheaper, and all of them are top loading.
>>
>>3483632
....I have been on the internet since dial up and this is first time I hear something like this ....is this normal ?(no sarcasm )

>>
>>3487424
It totally does. He just made it up because his autism forced him to respond to to a punctuationfag. And his autism forces him to believe that the fucked up shit in his head is how the real world works and everyone who doesn't agree with him is wrong because they're just stupid and he's so smart and they don't understand and...So that makes it so. kek
>>
>>3485428
What >>3487282 said. Where did you get the idea that famicom and fami bootlegs are some sort of high end collectors items? Most famicom games are half the price of their NES counterparts. Plus 60 to 72 pin adapters are like 30 bucks and snipping your 10NES chip is free (and it opens you up to Yuro games as well). When it comes to bootlegs, famicom is ALWAYS cheaper than NES because bootleg NES carts need to have a lockout chip in them, famicom doesn't. I don't know where you got the idea that NES is cheaper than famicom because it's objectively wrong.
>>
>>3487729
>and it opens you up to Yuro games as well
It would be preferable to play those on a PAL-console though. Not sure if there are that many on the NES though. The N64 has all the Rareware games that are better in the European versions, but that console can play both PAL and NTSC correctly regardless what version you have.
>>
>>3477194
>it has little samson
brb buying
>>
>>3487729
so my options are
>buy a nes-style multicart and carry on with my pathetic life
or
>spend 30 bucks on a converter, open up and modify my console, and buy the famicom multicart on top of that
and you're telling me going famicom will be cheaper. no one's even said which games the famicom carts have that the 150 in 1 doesn't and that's all i fucking asked. instead you shits have to rant about your preferred perfect glorious nippon setup like i give a shit about anything other than spending as little money as possible and sitting on my fat ass
>>
>>3489538
You don't need to mod your NES if you buy a 60 to 72 pin adapter with its own unlock chip i.e. the original Nintendo brand converter from early heavy 5-screw NES games
