Let's have a retro mechs thread, /vr/.
Game in the OP seems neat. What is it?
I like the Assault Suits series a lot (mainly just the first two, haven't played Leynos 2). Metal Storm and especially Ranger X are also awesome.

Looks like android assault for Sega CD. Great game with awesome music
>>3475964
I'm really digging Cybattler so far.
>>3475969
these are from Ningyou Tsukai / Metal and Lace /人形使い btw
>>3475976
Great music too btw. FM synth goes so damn well with mechs and robots.

did genesis have any good /m/'s? would love to play some on PGEN for PS2 since it's the only way I can play genesis stuff via CRT.

Just thinking about the size and shape of that hitbox gives me nightmares.

Quite possibly the greatest FMVs of the 5th gen era. Beautiful mecha porn courtesy of Fujita Kazumi. As for the game itself...? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
>>3476031
The hitbox is actually his chest, the head, arms and legs are just decorations.

Huh.
I'm huge on both /m/ and /vr/, but come to think of it I haven't played many games that combine both. One of them would be Metal Storm, a very fun game to play with gravity manipulation and power up alternatives. Easy to pick up, but man, some of those bosses can be such a pain in the ass. The M-308 Gunner is also really cool for an NES mech. I've always thought the graphics made it kind of cute.
Anybody played that Macross Scrambled Valkyrie? Is it fun?
A great /vr/ game as well as a godtier /m/ game
>>3476328
I really like Scrambled Valkyrie. It's far from the most challenging shooter out there, but it's really fun.
Any other game with as much itano circus as Bangai-O?
>>3475976
Holy crap, it's a fighting game.
>>3475990
I really want to play mad stalker but I can't play it on my PSP, I tried to make an EBOOT for the psx game, but the iso didn't work, the X68K emulator doesn't works, and the PC engine CD version doesn't work either, cause it's not compatible with turbo rip.
Gundam battle assault 2, big mecha fighting.
At it's finest.
>>3476436
I remember mad stalker was bitch to get running on the x68k emulator XM6. For the other version I suggest using the Mednafen emulator because it does both ps1 and pce cd very well.

It doesn't work on the PSP.
Robo Aleste for the Sega CD.
I stil can't decide if steam powered samurai robots it's retarded or the greatest thing ever.
>>3477218
Forgot my picture.
>>3474491
I half expected that, after the danger alert ended, there'd be no enemies and after a few seconds, the corridor would just terminate in a dead end and the robot would just fucking crater against it.
>Danger? What danger? I don't see any-
>CRASH
>... Oh.
>>3475496
Is it weird I find this slightly attractive?

Neue Ziel is a common enemy
>>3474491
There was a mech game on the dreamcast that plays sort of like power stone but the mechs are always looking at each other, kind of like heavy metal geomatrix.

>>3477398
I have no idea what exciting PSX format means as it was only released on DC.
>>3477127
This game has some pretty unique mecha designs. It's a shame that Junya Inoue's hand-drawn artwork prior to Batsugun is nowhere to be seen.
Would you a robot, /vr/?
>>3477438
only fembots
>>3477398
no, I've played the game before but that's not it. Camera angle is over the top but the characters are always looking at each other.
>>3477448

Not a fan of cockpits. To each their own.

Try Magic Engine, that works well with ArcadeCard CDs
Bump.
I wish that one torrent containing all the games for the PC was still seeded
>>3478647
I wish the other PD games would get translated.
>>3478647
I vaguely remember this being an anime. Was the anime based on the games?
>>3479226
>Was the anime based on the games?
There are two unrelated OVAs with 1 episode each.
The first one with the poorer quality animation is like a really loose adaptation of Mission 1 of PowerDoLLs 1 (because the original game wasn't really a character-based type of game)
The 2nd one I think is original plot using the game characters.
>>3477449
this thread inspired me to seek it out.
not sure why I remember playing it on Dreamcast but the game is called Senko no Ronde. Ironically it came out on Naomi which is what the Dreamcast is based off of.
50 replies in and noone has mentioned Omega Boost? It's an really good looking 3rd person shooter on the PS1 and very influenced by Panzer Dragoon.

First PC game I ever actually paid for (others were pirate copies before that).
I bought it for the box art alone and hated it at first. I thought it would be a mecha version of space/hero quest because I was tricked by the Sierra logo.
>>3481467
Omega Boost actually derives more from Knight Arms on the X68k: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tiauyck5MGU&t=140
Both games were designed by K. Yoshimura, who also led/programmed Star Cruiser and WiBARM for J-PCs.
This was pretty awesome, such shame this characteristic 90's maschinen krieger mech style is nowhere to be seen now.
