Please help me guys, I met a guy on gumtree today who sold me this cart. He told me it was a special tournament cart for tmnt tournament fighters and I paid him 400$ for the cart because he said I could easily sell it for over 1000$ if I wanted. I have got it home and taken it apart, the board says nintendo on it but looks like nothing I have seen before. I have looked online and cant find anything about this tournament cart. Is it that rare that there is no info online about it or have I been duped?

You paid $400 for something you know nothing about?
>>
I know competition carts are expensive and he said I can sell it for over 1000$ easily. He said he would sell it to me cheap because I seem like a real gamer.
>>
>>3471530
You're duped OP. There's no thing as a special tournament cart for that game. It was only made for very popular games like Starfox and Donkey Kong Country.

Also, next time use >>>/wsr/ or Google.

Fake as fuck. Look at the cut off letters in the bottom right of the label.
>>
I played in a TMNT tournament in Philly. Lost in Street Fighter 2 badly, but I was in top 3 for this.

The tournament carts are red.
>>
It plays the game fine though, and says nintendo on the circuitboard. I thought if it said nintendo on the circuitboard it was official. If this is a fake you have no idead how screwed I am.
>>

>box art printoff for cart label
It's not like we needed more evidence but, damn, OP. Use this as an opportunity to in the future.. uh... not buy fake carts.
>>
>>3471562
It could be a legit board, but the case is about as wrong as it gets.

That's a cut off US label on a Chinese bootleg case. It looks like a SFC or Euro SNES case, but it's somewhat different and cheaper looking.

Basically you paid $400 for a $20 game in a worse case than in it originally came in. Nice job.
>>
>>3471581
I am in Australia though, not China. It looks sort of similar to our carts but feels pretty rough, not smooth.
>>
If its not real I am fucked. I spent my rent money on it because I thought I could sell it quickly for $1000. Now people on facebook are laughing at me. I think I have fucked up.

It doesn't matter where you live. It's a cheap knockoff case regardless of where it was made. "Chinese bootleg" is just a way of saying it's not legit.

In any case, that's a US SNES label on there that was cut to fit the space on that cart. This is a picture of the legit PAL version.
>>
>>3471589
Seller told you, this cart can be quickly sold for 1000$
Sells you for 400$

Nobody could be that stupid, you are trolling us

Its meant to be a tournament cart though, could that explain the difference. Also the board says nimtemdo on it, does that not make it real?

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that this is some next-level denial rather than dumb trolling. You can put a board in any case. It's not a difficult thing to do. That case is fake as fuck and the fact that it uses a label that was literally cut off of a US SNES cart should have been a red flag from the beginning.

If you think you're going to be "in trouble" because you paid for that thing, guess what? You're in trouble.
>>
>>3471602

People here are so stupid that this board is almost melting down.
Anyways, here is the thing.
http://www.snescentral.com/article.php?id=0709

assuming that OP is telling the truth, the PCB looks legit, (sns-ky-o) the soldering wires are a bypass, probably because the board was in a bad shape.
probably someone found this cart in a crappy shape, fixed in a very crappy way, put it into a bootleg case, printed a shitty label and there you have it.
As is the game is worth about nothing. But you get to say that you have a real TMNTTF with the original PCB and the rest is just a restoration job.
>>
>>3471530
OP, do your research before buying a game for $400. It looks like a Chinese clone to me.
>>
>>3471546
Life lesson #1

If someone's argument for you buying something from them is that you can sell it for more ask yourself, "if I could sell it for more why can't they?" Either they're lying and you can't, it's stolen, or its otherwise illegal to own or sell.

Also, if this isn't bait no one is willing to give up $600 so you can add something to your collection. Should have known right there.
>>
On one hand I hope OP is trolling because I don't want there to actually be people this retarded who are into retro games since it drives up prices for everyone, but on the other hand this is hilarious so

Would it be wrong of me to list it on ebay as a tournament cart and try to get my money back. Who knows, maybe it is a really rare cart no one has heard of and might go for heaps more. I am now starting to think it might be a prototype tournament cart.
>>
>>3472628
I've noticed a bit of a pattern with autists on these boards who find themselves in a bid like this.

At no point do they admit defeat. They start pulling all these gymnastics to avoid actually dealing with what is going on. Its great popcorn material sometimes, but in this case it's just too sad.
>>
>>3472651
Can you blame him? Dude just put himself at risk of eviction over this.
>>
>>3471530
So if it's a special tour amebt cart, does it ha e a special startup or switches on the back? If it's exactly like every other tmnt cart it's probably not a tournament cart.

>>3472848
Looks like someone just gutted a Pro Action Replay cart, OP.
>>
>>3472841
>>3472848
Ah yes, this changes everything. What you have is actually a rare prototype tournament development cart with wiring for an expansion chip. It's entirely possible the ROM image on the cartridge is actually a different build of the game that is undumped. As it is, the cart is worth anywhere from 1000 to 1250. If you had the expansion chip in there (it looks like it's missing) it could easily go for over 2000.
>>
>>3472893
You have no ided how much you have just made my day. I was starting to really worry. If it is worth that much do you think it would be snapped up pretty quick if I sell for 850$ ?
>>
>>3472920
Easily. I would say just list it at 1000 with a best offer option.

If you really want to maximize your money, you should hunt down that expansion chip. It's a special konami chip but It's generic, it doesn't have to be specific to the game. Other than tournament carts the only commercial release that got the expansion chip was castlevania vampires kiss. And yes, it does have to be the PAL version, NTSC TVs can't handle the video signal generated by the chip. If you buy a vampires kiss cart and remove the chip from the PCB then solder those wires to the legs of the chip you'll be in business. You do that and you could easily sell that cart for 2000 or maybe even 3000.
>>
>>3472942

He's fucking with you, OP. You'll brick your cartridge by doing that. Even if it was legit, you'd tank the value because no one wants a rare cartridge that the owner fucked with.

Just sell the cart on eBay, now. It's going to take weeks for someone as dumb as you to come along, and you only have until the rest of the month.
>>
As you can see OP, some people like >>3472976 just get jealous when you find an amazing deal and want to try and bring you down.

Trust me, you throw in that expansion chip and you'll more than double the value.
>>
>>3472987

BUT whether OP is retarded or not, he took advantage of the seller because its clear he was going to flip the game from the beginning. Fuck u fake ass gaymer
>>
>>3472628
WTF even is a "tournament cart"? As if they use special carts at tournaments.

Did the seller tell you that's what the "tournament" in the game title means or something?

Thanks alot guys. Some of you nave been helpful and others not so helpful or just downright rude. It is obviously a beta prototype cart. I have tried to arrange to meet the seller again for a refund but he is busy for the next few days and unfortunately I dont have his address as I met him at the train station. He agreed that it is a beta prototype so end of story. Whe I list it on ebay I will let you all know so you have a chance at this piece of gaming history.
>>
>>3475684
>so you have a chance at this piece of gaming history.

People would rather have you dump the rom but that would cheapen the cart. A beta of TMNT Tournament Fighters (unless there was a character or some sort of controversy removed) isn't going to be too interesting compared to something like Socks the Cat or an unreleased official localisation.

Your call, but I would go in-depth with what the cart has. It is odd the seller tried to con you out or seemed anxious to sell it. Do your research next time.
>>
OP I will pay you 1000 for it

>>
>>3479793
Prototypes and development carts don't have a label like OP's at all. They either have no label or a plain white sticker with nothing but text on it, often hand written.
