Just a bump to say I've found the cd I think contains the videos, but now I need a CD/DVD drive to read it and that's something I don't have on my computer these days, so I'll borrow an USB one as soon as possible.

Because I'm late here's another thing to tide you over, though you bullfrog faithfuls probably know about it, videos of Bullfrog's canceled superhero game that used the same engine as DK. Devs who left Bullfrog to create Mucky Foot Productions reused part of the desing for their first game, Urban Chaos.

The videos I'll have are gonna be in the same kind of quality as that first one, I suspect. This is from back in the cd-rom era, after all.

Nice videos thanks

OP Here.
From your videos, I found this.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wz37n9n-m50
And here we are. Soundtrack was elevator music and uninteresting french comment, so I made a webbum. Of note:
-That was a graphic engine demo, really, made for the purpose of showing off the two perspectives and how many sprites they could push
-the level geometry is completely different from what we ended up with in the final game
-straight brick walls
They don't talk about it in that video but do in a later one, but originally they'd planned a mode where you'd play a first person adventurer party and go all dungeon master on another player's dungeon. Of course like many Bullfrog planned features it's tricky to know if there actually was any attempt to implement it or if they were all talk.
And here's one for syndicate wars

also, rereading OP, my video doesn't show you image exactly, so you know, but the engine it was taken from. Your image is from a press kit that's been captured there: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GkAC8qwQfU
