these seem to last forever on digital watcher, probably for the same reason they do on PC.
>>
They last even less time in a dreamcast vmu.
Then again, look how long they last in nes carts. Some...MOST are still working fine.
>>

because digital watches consume 1mAh at most
>>
bought mine for saturn in january and is still working.

Let's see if it can make it a full year. Anyway I have the saves on the backup cart, so I'm ready if it happens.
>>
The Saturn and the Dreamcast draw a lot more from these than watches and keeping CMOS on a motherboard does. A cartridge game that uses a battery to keep saves draws more than a watch, but way less than the Saturn does, and as such lasts around 2 decades if they don't explode or something. Thankfully, VMU's will still keep saves with dead batteries.

>put one of those bad boys on my saturn
>think I'm going to be fine
>few months later battery is dead
>all my saves are gone

Gee, I sure wonder why Playstation was more popular back then. Does saturn even have official memory cards? I know there are some backup memory cartridges, but c'mon now they're not even advertised as "memory cards" but as "backup cards". As in, something that are not necessary.

Yes of course there are official memory cards for Saturn....
>>

The internal battery didn't die immediately, if you bought a Saturn new back then, you'd have a console with internal memory, PS didn't have that.
And yeah there are official memory cartridges, not cards because there is no card slot on Saturn. They're called "power memory" or "back up memory", they were necessary because the internal Saturn storage isn't as big (something like 200 or 300 blocks vs like 2000 on the cart)

They always last 2-3 years on my Saturns, maybe you shouldn't be buying the 50 cent shit brands.
>>
>>3467092

criminally underrated

Goddamn, that is a YOUNG Jason Alexander.

This. Anyone who has a battery that doesn't last at least a year minimum bought a shit Chinese battery. It's been the same with watches for decades. If you're not getting a name brand you might as well expect a few months at most and if you thought it was a name brand then you got duped.
