Your thoughts on 3DNES

Don't see the point. In that screencap it looks like a pixel world is exploding out of the center of the screen, like something you'd see in an old "WOW EXTREEEEME GRAPHICS, DUDE!" commercial.

Cool in theory, but like most gimmick things, you'll boot it up, play a few games for maybe 10 minutes or do before going "Okay, I'm good." and never think of it ever again.

I can't imagine ever beating a game like that.

3DNES will have to be tailored differently for every single game, of which there are hundreds.

You mean with the 3D effect on? How the hell is that relevant? You're comparing stereoscopic 3D to a representation on a 2D screen.

Plus that method doesn't work with the NES, because the NES only has one background layer so you can't do true parallax effects. (I'm aware a few NES games use parallax scrolling, but it's done with advanced trickery like per-scanline splitting or streaming tile data. That's really hard to turn into a stereoscopic effect.)

Yes indeed. It's why Nintendo made a few 3D Classics and then gave up, although they are still pretty cool. M2 put a huge amount of work into them and the results are amazing.

You realize the NES doesn't have Mode 7 effects at all, right? It doesn't matter anyway because Mode 7 on the SNES is a visual illusion rather than a 3D projection. The emulator wouldn't be able to determine the correct depth to place everything.
