Imagine playing a Mega Man game on a keyboard.
A keyboard!
>yfw there are pcfags on /vr/ right now who WASD everything including emulators
>yfw there are serious fighting game competitors who use fingerboards
Sadly, I did.

Is there a happier robot master than Dynaman?
He's so joyful looking ^_^
>>3444790
There's really no difference between playing on a keyboard and on a console specific pad for consoles without analog movement.
>>3444813
You can press two opposite directions on a keyboard.
>>3444808
He looks more like his soul is about to crash.
>>3444791
DOS wasn't even that bad. At least, compared to DOS 3.
>>3444836
It was bad anon.
>>3444790
I WASD everything, and pretty competently, although I am totally incapable of playing fighting games with a keyboard. I wonder how people manage to do that. I can't do a single fucking shoryuken without a cramp.
>>3444808
>^_^
>>3444967
That smilie brings me nostalgia. ^^'
I actually find games with tank controls easier with a keyboard. Silent Hill etc
>>3444808
It looks like he's about to snap.
>>3444790
One of the best King of Fighters players I ever met used a keyboard. It's all about what you learn with and build your muscle memory around. Nothing actually weird about it.
>>3444784
>2016
>not holding your keyboard in your hands and using your thumbs like a gamepad
And you call yourselves gamers
>>3445040
At least have the decency to use the right keyboard!
>>3444963
I can do a final atomic buster, without jumping on the keyboard.
Git Gud.
>>3445040
this looks comfy
>>3444791
What I don't get is, just because it gets ported to the PC, all of a sudden the characters look like Commander Keen offcuts.
Why didn't they use the same assets as from the other versions? At least as a basis.
>>3445650
It's not even a port to begin with. It's basically a fan game with Capcom's permission.
A lot of (computer) ports from the time didn't have access to the original assets. They had to recreate them from scratch based on another version.

If a game has no gamepad support I usually play it like this with my K400 before I go to the effort of setting up xpadderI play STALKER with a 360 controller fuck you
>>3445681
Stalker? BS the controller does not have enough buttons
>>3445740
I use the keyboard for infrequent actions, but only because I can't get the driver for pic related to work right.
>>3445681
>>3445396
>>3445040
>wireless keyboards
>>3445771
You're retarded. The first one isn't even a real keyboard, the ASCII Gamecube controller is wired and I clearly stated I only use my K400 to try out games.
i beat mega man 2, 3, and 4 with a keyboard at work :D
>>3445396
Some dude played with one of these at Super Smash Con recently. I gave him mad respect.
>>3445681
Dude, I play Fallout with a USB N64 controller.
I play anything 2D like this
>>3445771
Nigga, the k400 is solid. Its a good budget kb with a built in touchpad. Great for media boxes.
>>3444784
Motherfucker, apparently you've never used Nesticle.
I can play 2D games better on a keyboard than on a controller. The tactile feedback from the keys makes it much more precise than a small d-pad with connected directions.
>>3444784
>>3444790
>mfw 8-12 year old me back in the early 2000s beat every Megaman and Megaman X game on my PC with keyboard
Fun games.
>>3446386
I feel like it's whatever you're used to.
For example, if I wanted to play something simple like Mario World, being able to run and jump at the same time would be complicated as hell with that set up.
However, I completely understand that you have enough fingers for it to work.
>>3446423
Middle finger holds S.
Index finger presses D.
I can also press A without releasing the other keys, I only have to release D to press F, but that's no problem, because no one in their right mind would program a game that requires B and X to be pressed together.
I used to do arrow keys for movement, ZXAS would be BAYX, Start and Select would be V and B, and LR would be Shift/Ctrl.
Actually felt very comfy.
>>3446423
I always chose WASD for direction. Then JKL:=YBLR. UI made the X and A buttons. It just seemed more natural that way.
I did... mm legends
>>3446309
You don't need to. Keyboard makes charge characters much easier to use.
>>3446309
>But you can't press more than 3-4 keys at most.
Buy a better keyboard, champ.
>>3444784
I actually played through Mega man X, X2 and X3 on an emulator using a keyboard.
I had to give up at Megaman X3 on the final stage where you have to jump dash climb before the robot pulls the walls to crush you. I just needed a gamepad.
>>3447675
a gamepad wouldn't have helped you
>>3446303
must be hell to do 360 inputs
I've played 8 using arrows on the right side and kew actions asdf.
I can beat all the classics plus x1 to x4 on keyboard, each under an hour. It's not hard. WASD move, O shoot, K jump, P dash. Easy.
Before I got a controller to work I emu'd dozens of games and only could rely on the keyboard. Direction keys to move, Z, X to jump and shoot, and sometimes A, S if something else was needed. Got through almost every Contra this way.
>>3444784
>tfw the first time I played MMX was on my old PC with a keyboard
>>3444794
You joke but that was actually the default mapping for ZSNES in the late 90s/early 00s. As a kid just getting into emulation with a poor grasp of English, I was playing for quite a while before finally realizing it could be altered.
>>3448287
Not nearly as bad as you'd think. Once you're used to it keyboard is way easier than pad for those. Even with the spacebar as jump.
>>3444794
>zsnes for msdos
>>3444794
How is this even supposed to work? One hand over the other? I can't even comprehend such horror.
>>3449804
You only need one hand.
>>3444791
this... in eye-searing cga
>>3444784
Op you absolute madman lol
>>3449812
How do you do a running jump while shooting fireballs with one hand?
>>3445396
shit senpai thats dope. Hope it counts at tournments
