tfw the best GBA flash card will stick a quarter inch out of your GBA Micro like a fucking tumor.

what's the difference between this and the EZ flash aside from ezflash beign a pain to buy these days?
>>

Oh no what will I ever do
>>
>>3430645
As far as I know, the everdrive has a RTC. Not sure about anything else being different.
>>
Who cares? Still looks better than a regular GB game in a GBA.
>>
>>3430645

EZ Flash IV requires wandows-only software to patch the save type on the roms before you can play.

It's not too big a deal if you want to load it up with ~30 games, but it makes it impractical to just throw the whole No-Intro set on there. Supposedly there is a way to do batch processing but I haven't figured it out yet. Also not sure if I'd trust a fully automated process since I almost always have to correct the "Rom Title" field in the EZ Flash software (i.e. naming all three F-Zero games "F-Zero" by default).

I might pick up an everdrive eventually for the archival/no-intro set , but I'm waiting to see if he produces a stripped down version (no RTC, etc) that's regular sized.
>>
>>3430675
Are there actually plans to release one with no real time clock? That'd be ideal.

They get the job done. I've had one for years and it still works. Mario Kart is unplayable. I played through MOTHER 3 with it and just have it loaded with JRPGs and it's great for that.
>>
>>3431047

Its awesome, I feel it more safe than previous realeses of the EZ Flash, the differences between this version and the older one is that this one load the games slower but saves them quicker and waste less battery. The only problem i have is that i can´t play fucking boktai even with the solar patch on.
But I think there´s an answer to that.
>>
>>3431105
no any other incompatible games? i cant find a list
>>
>>3431123

I'm pretty sure every game I've tried (~40 games) has worked.

OH except for the "Classic NES" or "Famicom Mini" games, I think they have some type of anti-piracy code. Might be a patch for them idk
>>
>>3431097
Why was Mario Kart unplayable? Did it run slowly?
>>
>>3430858
They work with a lot of games but some have glitches n shit in the background.
>>
>>3431131
there is a patch
>>
>>3431131
yeah they have a patch
>>
>>3431131
MINI nes games work but you have to patch them. People around me really likes to play nes on the gba. EZ flash runs mother 3 and i dunno most of the game library, except those werid ones like boktai.
>>
>>3430675
this basically, I have an EZF4 and I'd rather sell it and get something that wasn't a pain in the ass to work with.

What's the bulge for? Do certain games need it?
>>
>>3430638
Is it easy to change the battery of the everdrive x5?
>>
>>3430858

I dunno about the new ones but I bought one of these back when the game boy micro was new and played a ton of shit with it.

Only issue was a couple games like Mario kart lagged, which was probably more to do with the sdcard speed ( remember this was close to a decade ago ) the built in save function never worked (so you could save at any point and load from the launcher - not like the game save, that was fine)

So I dunno I was happy with it. I'm gonna get a nds at some point and it apparently works with that.
>>
where can i download full sets of gba roms same for nds
>>
>>3431246

Internet Archive has GBA in the no-intro collection.

It looks like Emuparadise has some NDS fullsets but I can't vouch for them. You're gonna need an assload of storage for NDS games, some are as much as 512 mb each (pokemon).

I prefer the SP 101 due to size tho the micro looks stunning, deep colours and no shadowing. The pixel size alone makes it incredibly good to look at.

>>
>>3431659
>no GB(C) cart sticking out
>>
>>3431704
You're in a flash cart thread fám

Regardless. Playing those GB/C games
>>
>>3430858
for a pretty cheap flashcart they work, but in my experience they have trouble with a lot of gba games. for example, mario advance 2, 3, and 4 don't run at all, while mother 3 can't save. it only supports up to 2gb flash cards and can also run almost every NES, GB, GBC, and Game Gear / Master System game natively (it seems to have trouble with some GBC games but not much besides that). load times are also pretty slow, too (1 megabyte per second). apparently it can also play DS games too, but you need some extra thing to do that.
oh, and you need to save all of your games manually in a different menu (save in-game, exit, and then go to that menu).

Yeah, but the screen ends small due to the resolution mismatch, there's a whole top screen you're not using, and you can't just dump the whole no-intro set on there at once because each game must be installed to memory in order to run.

Really the Micro isn't even that hard to see, Its small sure tho you act like you never used a old Nokia phone or small portable growing up.
It looks great in motion and its size makes it great for actual portable gaming.

Try one. You'll like it. The D-Pad is also sex.

My ezflash4 came with bundled Wangblows software which works ok for advance games and ports, but what is recommended for straight NES roms? I never really cared for the GBmicro.

I bought one used from a friend in like 2008, kept it for a couple years, then ended up selling it to another friend. He sold it back to me like a year later(traded for beat up DS phat), I kept it another year or two, then sold it to another friend. That guy then also sold it back to me about a year later. I kept it for a while again before selling it to a local video game store over a year ago.

Moral of the story: No one wants an ant-sized screen to play GBA on.
>>
>>3433810
GB micro has
>muh battery life
>muh minimalism
>muh colors and brightness
>no floppy screen like an SP
>doesnt use double A's like a GBA

Youre just cant see worth a shit, also keep in mine that GBA games are 160p, they dont look that swell on big screens

One big downfall of the Micro is how easy the plastic fronts get scratched, and the Ebay reproductions for them have foggy plastic and the window doesnt line up with the screen.

Most of the games worked, but as other anon said, there were issues with more 'complex games', and there were times when shit got laggy like fuck, but it was playable.
The external menu for saving was painfull, but manageable. The supercard sd which I used to use for about 9 years significantly contributed to draining the gba sp's battery.
In theory, they are able to play gbc games, but they ended up crashing badly. On the other hand, the nes games performed pretty well.

So how is the micro better than an AGS-101? Great colors and brightness, no AAs, nothing wrong with the battery life(my SP 101 of 10 years is still great on battery life). And I don't quite see the problem with the clam shell unless you're a kid and break your shit all the time, or jerk your SP all over the place to knock it loose a bit.

I can actually see on the micro fine, I'd just rather a bigger screen? But I agree, depending on the game, they may look shit on a big screen, but that's only if you're using the GBPlayer.
>>
>>3434248
Why not both? Alot of users here seem to think they can only have one game system or something. Get the 101 first, for serious business. Then get a micro for street cred and most importantly, FUN. All you no-fun niggers need to fuck off.
>>
>>3434254
To add, I didn't mean the anon I was replying to was a no-fun nigger.
>>
>plastic front gets scratched

>>
>>3434254
I never implied that you can't have both, we were discussing which system was better. I play a DMG, Pocket, or Color occasionally(for fun!), but much fucking prefer my SP. Some I just really don't like, like the original Advance with it's dark ass screen. I have one, but don't ever play it.

For street cred, I just pull out my Japanese GB Light.

>>
>>3435116
>>3434623
I've never had any problems with the 101. For the longest time literally everyone praised it as being the best as well. This sounds like a meme, or some ultra autists who were trying really hard to spot out unnoticeable issues. Maybe micro resellers trying to sway the consensus, idk.
>>
>>3435141
You can notice it slightly on the 101 tho its hardly anything to moan about. I use my Micro when actually traveling. I enjoy the 101 at home due to the extra screen size.
But yes the Micro screen is stunning.
>>
>>3435116
I've heard complaints about games like Gradius Advance having so much ghosting on the 101 that you can barely see your lasers, but I've only played that game on an emulator so I wouldn't know if its true.
>>
>>3434623
>>3435116

"50 hz" is a dumb meme started by illiterate poorfags. It runs at 59.73 hz, same as all other models.

I literally never noticed the ghosting until someone mentioned it here on /vr/. Now that I look for it it's there a little bit, but still 1000x better than a PSP 1000 or 2000. It doesn't bother me at all when playing games, and I'm a CRT autist so usually pretty picky about video quality.
>>
>>3435248
>>3435148
Just as I thought, a meme started by turbo autists who searched to find a barely noticeable problem. My legit autistic IRL /v/tard friend does the same thing. If I told him about this, he'd suddenly hate his beloved SP 101

They do have oversaturated colors.
This is because developers used oversaturated color pallets for gbc and early gba games.
They oversaturated the pallets to compensate for the fact that their screens had inferior color reproduction and no backlight.

Whether or not this bothers you is a different matter.
I personally don't mind.

Tron 2.0 is great.

It's an isometric beat 'em up with light cycles, Doom-like tank and recognizer battles, and a mini game which is basically yars revenge.
The upgrade system is pretty fun too.
You collect chips which give you certain abilities or advatages, but they all cost energy.

It also has the tron arcade games as unlockables.

Wasn't intentional.

I was going to post something else, but I guess my clipboard somehow copied the entire thread.

You know you can quote by highlighting certain text, then clicking on the anon's post number, right?

It baffles me how often I see people quoting like this lately. Idk of its newfags or shitposters

Backlight != oversaturated colors

Early GBA games were not over-saturated. They were brightened to account for the dim screen. Super Mario World was brightened for the GBA release so you could see the game on a non-lit screen. It actually looked pretty close to the original SNES palette when played on a GBA screen.

The GBA SP AGS-101 exposes the game for what it really is. A butchered port with a bastardized palette.
>>
>>3436958
Fuck, today is not my day.
>>
>>3436962
That's my fucking point!

The 101 screen is fine, but the pallets were carnked up for the earlier inferior screens.

Because of this, the 101 displays them as too bright or oversaturated.
>>
>>3436971
there are plenty of romhacks that correct colors, this is a flash cart thread, so using those isn't out of the question.
>>
>>3436971
I can honestly not notice this shit when playing SMW on a 101 unless I'm trying to find it

I cant play Super mario world because it is a super card but lets see.

I still prefer the brightness on the GBA 101 instead cellphone or crappy screen on ags100.

Also, if someone else have a supercard can tell me how to fucking run mario games? I only can play SMA4 and is quite boring after a few days.
>>
>>3437413
Wow it looks like shit on a phone.
>>
>>3431690
to load roms onto the ED, you just copy and paste them to an SD card.

All of these other fucking flash carts require black magic to patch ROMs, or you have to connect the cart to your PIC via some shitty USB reader... they're also not readily available. I know you can buy EZF4 for like $40 from China, but you still need to patch ROMs using some shitty Chinese Windows XP app and half the games don't work properly, if at all.

I don't know about you, but I'd rather just buy an Everdrive.
>>
>>3432591
depends how bad it is. you could try plastic compound and then a polish on it. if the scratches are any deeper than hairline, shit's fucked.
>>
>>3436260
I don't think it'd be that bad if you lined your index fingers up along the sides. It'd be better if they were on the back side or something.
>>
>>3437896
Of you have a DMGGB try it now. Its finger breaking. On heavy shoulder button games its literally unplayable.
>>
I'm honestly surprised at the shit flinging going on ITT. Never knew there was such animosity for the Micro.

I think if you were gonna get one and only one Game Boy, the SP would be the way to go. But if you have a Color or something to play older games on or you don't mind emulating them with Goomba, a Micro and a flashcart is a great combination. I often just grab it when I'm facing a train ride or something and am not sure what to do.
The screen looks great, it looks classy, the battery lasts forever, it's fucking tiny and is built like a tank. I'll take cool metal over plastic any day.
>>
>>3437898
That's sadly the one hole in my GB collection; I don't trust online sellers to send me one without screen issues.

It doesn't. He's just kept bilinear filtering turned on like a retard (or isn't using integer scaling).
>>
>>3437956
Bilinear is builted in on emulator (if you really care about graphics on a phone emulator i have some news about who the retard is).

Best GB/GBC flashcart? Looking to mod a GBC since it seems to be cheaper than the GBA I want to do.
>>

everdrive GB
>>
>>3435734

Yeah it was a joke at the time but was truly the only real portable. I carried it everywhere with a flash cart. It was small enough you could game in school without getting caught, small enough to always have on you. I got a ton of use out of it.

This was before the days of having a cellphone and smart phones didn't exist, so there was plenty of pocket space

I have one it's great; runs mother 1/2/3 and ROM hacks (pokemon ash grey)

The only downside is having to open a windows xp virtual machine to patch ROM files for loading

wat.
You just need to run it as administrator on any windows anon. I've got a portable copy of the software on the micro SD card itself, so wherever I have the flashcart, I've got a copy of the software required.
>>
>>3444725

>he runs windows
>he trusts random chink software to access his hard drive and make network requests
>he runs said software as ADMINISTRATOR

I use a Win 2000 vm to patch mine, but I don't think the version is critical.

In my opinion, Micro a best, a best! Best image quality, best feeling d-pad & buttons, portable as fuck, and you don't need a headphone adapter. Although I'd say the Game Boy Player is overall the best way to play GBA games without emulating since you can play them in 480p, assuming you have those expensive ass component cables.
