What is the best replacement on the interwebs?
No gamecube-stick garbage.
I know these exist:

No idea about others.

Are gamecube sticks that bad? They look smooth and comfy, but I've heard having on fucks up your aim in Goldeneye and a few other things.

GC sticks are glorified d-pads.

I have one controller with a Gamecube stick (came in an ebay lot). It technically works but feels totally wrong. I don't like using it at all. I prefer to use my other controllers with half-dead OEM sticks.
I'm going to swap in one of my old OEM sticks from a controller with an A button problem, would rather have a loose stick than a shitty feeling one.

Yes, they don't allow all degrees of motion. My Life in Gaming did a great video about it.

And they didn't do the proper upgrade with the German GC controller boards.
Which are perfect for GoldenEye.

I'm hoping these turn out to be worthwhile

nani?
The guys at 8bitdo are making this, not sure what to expect because I've never touched any of their controllers before. I do know they will most likely release an adaptor for the N64 so you can use it there too (along with PS4, Wii U Pro and other controllers too).
I'm curious to see how good the stick quality will be.

If it's anything like retrobit's other products, it won't even feel like a dpad with horrible sensitivity. I think the people willing to buy this kind of thing in the first place wouldn't mind paying a higher price for more quality products.

That's weird. The one I installed is basically perfect. It does register every direction, and everything in between. I'd now as I'm very picky with analogs. I bought it in 2012 though and I don't remember where, but it wasn't from ebay.

Isn't there meant to be some teflon one that's really good?

The snes one is fucking beautiful, D-Pad is great, buttons feel better then the original.

User who makes them is called Micro.
You buy the bad/awful GC replacement sticks elsewhere. Then you get the replacement boards from Micro. You crack open the terrible GC replacements, remove the tiny board inside, and solder in the one Micro has made.
They then work perfectly. You can aim in GoldenEye/Perfect Dark, Do spin attacks in Zelda64, and the other previously impossible move in Smash Bros.
Don't even bother.
Just import a controller for japan.
Japanese controllers are always way more well taken care of, although they usually smell like mothballs.

all that video proves is the knockoff gamecube-style n64 analogs they bought are shit
the actual gamecube analogs are perfectly fine

I ordered those. They're too big and give the stick a grinding feeling with the gears. I think the teeth are to blame.
Did this thread accomplish what the best non GC replacement was?

This question is asked often. The best answer so far is the GC-Style replacements upgraded with Micro's board v3.
The metal sticks are promising though.

But you didn't answer my question.
