A guy a couple hours away is selling this thing for $10. He says it's a Sears 580 40391 850. I can find some similar models but nothing exact. Looks like a PVM. Anyone know if Sears made good TVs?

no its a generic 80s tv with RF only probably. the glass screen is nice.

Would you say its worth a 2 hour drive to pick up, considering I don't have TVs besides LCDs?

imo nothing is worth a 2 hour drive. Ask for pics of the connections on the back. If its RF only those are very common and you can find them easily. I do think it has nice aesthetics. Also you should post in the /crt/ thread next time.

>drive 2 hours
>pay 10 bucks
>get a generic crappy TV
No.
Go find one that's local. People are getting rid of CRT's all the fucking time.
You can always find a TV that's <1 hour away usually for free on craigslist.
It looks like a PVM to you because PVMs continued to be built in chassis designed in the 80s all through the early 2000s. Not all 80s looking CRTs are good. In fact, quite the opposite. IF it had composite and it was sitting on a bridge as trash I MIGHT not kick it off.
Sears didn't "make" any TVs, they sold rebadged Panasonics or other brands.
