Most SMS games are rubbish, you won't miss much by not having one, but if you do, there are a few good games to own (mostly the 1st party games). And NES is a must for everyone I think.

Not really. Aside from the games of studios like Sunsoft and Konami, a lot of its games are pretty rubbish as well.

I would pick the NES over any other retro console.

The Master System wasn't that great, though it does have a few games that are well-worth playing.

SMS light gun games are fantastic and blow NES out of the water because the tech is better.

SMS also has Zaxxon 3d and Zaxxon 3d in 3d with 3d goggles which is a pretty intense experience.

Aside from the games, Master System had a shitty controller, and no start button on it.
Also, lot of better games on NES.
I always feel pity for 80's kids whose parents bought a MS instead of NES.

The Master System controller is way better, don't kid yourself.

NES simply because Nintendo bullied other companies into only making games for their console. I did enjoy being able to play Sega arcade ports in addition to Double Dragon and R-type on the Master System.
