What's the best way to emulate N64 games these days? I always used Project 64 but it's been so long since I messed with something like that I don't know what my options are anymore.

Didn't you guys have some kind of "emulation general" thread?

Any N64 emulators support XInput?

Don't emulate instead buy an everdrive

Wii VC

There are no good n64 emulators. Buy an everdrive.

Project 64 is still the best. Better than ever before, really. Anyways, see this:

Not op, but I was thinking of doing this. I don't have any n64 stuff anymore though so I'd have to buy the console and controllers as well.

N64s aren't too pricey, but controllers seem like they could get expensive fast. Are there any cost efficient controllers that don't suck? How hard is it to install a gamecube stick onto an n64 controller (which I hear you kinda need to do for longevity since the n64 controller grinds the stock stick into dust after awhile)?

Having an n64 w/ everdrive and 4 decent controllers seems awesome, I'm just worried that with the everdrive cart and decent controllers I'm going to be looking at ~$300 to get started which is more than an n64 with EVRAH GAME EVAH is worth to me honestly

It's great but not everyone likes the dark filter they added.

I'm waiting for a mini N64.

come back in 12 months and flip a coin to see if vulkan-retroarch became worthwhile or not

No.

Retard proof, it's literally 3 screws and a little ribbon cable.

>$300 to get started
That's about right with ED64, console, controllers and expansion pak if not already included. Worth it to me because I'm a big N64 fan but I wouldn't recommend it to the average joe. Emulation is fine if you just want the classics and nothing more.

Keep an eye on CEN64.

Thanks for the info.

An ed+n64 is something I definitely want eventually. I might just bite the bullet and do it soon, I'd hate to decide I wanted one 5 years from now only to find out n64s are reselling for like $200 and everdrives are no longer being made (and thus are super expensive too)
