I have fond, hazy memories of this game from my childhood and I've taken an interest in it recently. Are these good games? Which one is the best? How can I get hold of it seeing as it is not on GoG or Steam?

They're pretty good games. Jazz plays like a mishmash of several different styles of platformers.
You can snag them all online from archive sites by just googling the name. You'll probably need yo use DOSbox but I'm sure if you do a bit digger deeping you'll find an easy way to set it all up.

I'd say it's one of the best platformers for DOS, although that's not saying alot since DOS isn't really much for platformers. For the first game, DOSBos should work fine for it, but there's also OpenJazz for if you want to try some shenanigans (though last I heard the physics were wonky). For the second game you might try JJ2+.
Also, Tubelectric

I only played the second game so I didn't realize that this song had two versions. I'm not sure which of them should be considered the best but after listening to both versions I think I prefer the first one slightly.

Well I also played this game as a child so I can't really say how it holds up now, but I remember Jazz Jackrabbit 2 was my favorite game to play for a long time. I also spent countless hours making my own levels after I've finally beaten the game. The music in 1 and 2 are absolutely godlike in my opinion and I can still listen to it now. Just check the tune this guy >>3414797 linked or listen to this one.

Absolutely amazing for me. I had physical copies of both 1 & 2, but lost them long ago unfortunately.
I find 1 a bit clunky but 2 is fucking great, even never having played it as a kid. Get all expansions and just go nuts. The mutliplayer deathmatches are also fun as shit too.

JJ1 has better worlds and more interesting level design, while JJ2 has smoother gameplay.

One more I guess.
It's the most memorable non-Apogee sidescroller I remember from my DOS days.
