I am about to go on a 3 hour round trip journey to pick up a Commodore 64 complete set, computer, monitor, disk drive, boxes, and manuals for $120 Canadian.
Up here monitors are usually 150, the computers are also 150, not sure what the drives go for. And those are without box or papers.
What else should I look to get after the main machine? I mostly work with my dos 386 and XP 486 when retro gaming. This is my first jump into 8bit computers.

Is it in NB? Just curious because there's somebody selling one nearby me that I've been eyeing, but just don't have the money or rook to buy it right now.
Out east Ontario.
Why bother with the monitor? If he's just throwing it in, then fine, but it's not at all necessary. The only microcomputer I'd bother buying a monitor for is a CPC.
I thought it was a great monitor for composite systems and systems that can be nodded for RGB

Depends on the model. I would never use composite, and the Commodore monitors were never much good, maybe slightly better than the average Japanese CRT monitor.

>XP 486
>Windows XP on a 486
Did I just read that right? What the living fuck are you doing?

Get a new power supply - use the original power supply on your c64 and it will be kill. They all fail and take out the chips. Half of the units stored in attics on ebay are kill on first test.
