Let's talk about those games we saw in magazines but which never came out.
>Dinosaur Planet turned into Star Fox Adventure
Apparently they had a lot of marketing behind the game but it ended up heavily retooled anyway.
>Their E3 2000 booth
>Mother 3/Earthbound 64 moved to the GBA

Woulda been sick af goddamn.
And gba mother 3 aint 3d
Another instance of Rareware looking like they have the "Mario killer" only for it to be 90% scrapped and reskinned
also why did they become shit when Microsoft bought them?
>>3407154
Microsoft only bought them to lose competition. They didn't give a fuck about their IPs.
>>3407154
They became shit because I believe most of the original team left when they did get bought out. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
>>3407154
I'm still holding out hope that this will get leaked someday. At the very least, we know a Conker 64 prototype ROM still exists at Rare.
>>3407175
Nope, you're right. I mean, look how Yooka Laylee's turning out - looks more like a Rare game than anything they've released in nearly a decade.
I don't blame them for leaving though, Nintendo just kept fucking with them. Dinosaur Planet looked so fucking cool, there's a lot of footage of it and as far as presentation goes it looks a step above even Conker, just incredible for the console. But now we have to remember it as Star Fox fanfic-furry-wank that came and went without a peep. Rare were on the road to getting fucked whether they took the money or not, the way I see it.

Dinosaur Planet was a lot more interesting as a n64 title with original characters. I cant really explain it but I hate how you could only play as Fox in the gamecube version. The gamecube version felt extremely boring like they padded it out after removing actual content.
>>3407198
I don't think Nintendo was robbing rare of their freedom or anything considering most of their best games were Nintendo properties. Maybe the relationship wasn't great but it's rare (no pun intended) that game studios last through multiple generations with the same personnel anyway
I want to fuck Krystaland you want to fuck her too
>>3407217
Yeah, I don't think Miyamoto was ever out to sabotage them or anything like that but the relationship was certainly strained. Going back to Project Dream they were trying to make a fresh IP for a big, grand adventure game and, seemingly every time, they ended up making a cutesy platformer instead. Conker in general was a response to the internal pressure they felt to keep producing googly eyed kids games, and Dinosaur Planet was probably their last ticket out of that pigeon-hole. They had a great run while it lasted though.
>>3407209
You actually do get to play as Krystal in the very beginning but the focus shifts to Fox pretty quickly. It's a shame 6th Generation hacking hasn't really taken off yet as I'd love to see someone have a stab at rearranging the game into something resembling the original vision, getting rid of the redesigns and some of the blatant filler.
>>3407198
I couldn't give a fuck less about dinosaurs and furries, I'm still mad as fuck I rented that piece of shit, played it for hours, finally got to an arwing, and it was over in 30 seconds. I'm sure it's a decent game, but that made me so butthurt I couldn't play it anymore.
>>3407261
This is exactly why Miyamoto looking at the game and seeing Star Fox is so baffling. The game offers basically nothing Star Fox fans would expect to see, it would have made more sense to change it to a Zelda game honestly.
Black on the outside white on the inside.
The Dreamcast Castlevania seemed good.
>>3407209
They ruined Krystal. She went from the protagonist to being playable for like ten minutes. Plus her redesign was horrible. She had a perfectly nice design but then they took away most of her clothes and gave her hair.
>>3407594
I didnt even realize 7up had a different mascot. They've abandoned coolspot as well.

it literally says de-furring nude code
>>3407745
Hey does anyone know the code to make the tomb raider girl naked? My friend at school said his dad worked for sony and told him it really exists.
>>3407745
>>3407779
I'm sure codes of this sort of thing were all the rage at the time but what a forced reference. 'De-furring nudey code', like he had to throw de-furring in there so we knew he totally wasn't a furry, guys.
It's curious that Rareware were experimenting with FMV too, would have been around the time Resident Evil 2 pulled it off rather nicely on the console.
>>3408128
i actually am, atleast i have the confidence to admit it. wish nintendo would release the complete starfox 2
>>3408368
I wish they would too but Argonaut being completely dead kind of puts them in a legal headlock - with the publisher contract being ancient history it's no longer their work to release. They did send it to the developers of Star Fox Command though, so they've got copies sitting in a box somewhere.

Around the reveal of Yooka-Laylee and interviewing the ex-Rare staff I remember one of the senior guys saying how refreshing it was to not design something that then goes through five different focus groups before there is any approval. Suppose that wasn't a philosophy in place prior to Microsoft. U think most of the 90's staff left when the Stamper brothers left a couple years after the takeover.
Rare did have Playstation and Xbox Dev kits towards the tail end of their Nintendo relationship, so them splitting was inevitable. They probably would have benefited more from becoming a totally independent studio though.
Apparantely the full game can be played online

Are there any dinosaurs left in Starfox Adventure?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Zt2Hwc23rw
>innocent blue fox loli turned into a slutty foxxxy bitch that's ruining star fox
Not that I'm blaming everything on her. The new star fox for wii u sucked and she wasn't even in it.
>>3411015
only the most annoying little shit Tricky.
>>3410965
you mean downloaded online?
>>3411060
The game is filled to the brim with dinosaurs. The common enemy in the game is a bipedal velociraptor wearing armor, for crying out loud.
>>3410965
Anyone have that interview where they said the real completely finished version was never leaked?
>>3412324
The one with Dylan Cuthbert?
