Okay, so I've been scratching my head about this stage for a while now (not where to find the chao, but HOW to get to it). The using homing to bounce off the beetle seems unnecessarily harsh, especially since if you fuck it up you have to start the level over. I went online to see if there was maybe a guide to tell me what I was doing wrong, but between text and video guides, I've come to learn no one has done any sort of guide for it; everything I've seen has been a different version than I'm playing (Battle I assume) which replaced all the enemies with floating springs.
I wouldn't be so angry about this if some of the guides weren't listed as dreamcast. Does anyone know how to get past this?
Don't you just hold the jump button and then use homing attack when you're closer to it, unless you'd be able to hit the spring just from jumping? I've played Battle and it has those enemies too. I thought that those enemies don't die or respawn if you play the mystic melody again. It can't be as difficult as you're making it out to be.

There is no spring to jump from. I took that screenshot from one of the tutorials online I was complaining about, pic related is what's there instead.

haha, you had to make sure you threw in your exemplary autism didn't you?

Dreamcast is retro, and I'm pretty sure discussion of ports/remakes is allowed.

Thanks I guess. You at least described the right scenario, though what threw me into this search in the first place was I was having trouble hitting the rung from the homing attack; it keeps sending me off to the side instead of just up, and there's not a lot of margin for error on the course correction.

I see now, sorry for the misunderstanding.

You wouldn't know what autism looked like even if your mom cleaned your room.

this is EXACTLY what I was looking for, thanks!
