Your opinion on Treasure Co's works?
>>3405732
Yes please
Consistenly good, I don't think any of their /vr/ stuff is bad, their works range from good to excellent.
Sin and Punishment and Alien soldier being their best works IMO.
The definition of meme games.
>>3405780
you have 3 seconds to name a single game that isn't a meme.
>>3405732
Never played a treasure game I didn't like
>>3405732
Their shmups are more overrated than any of Cave's, honestly.
Gr8test shmuck
they made the best "star fox" successor than nintendo or Platinum Games ever could.
Star Successor is the greatest rail shootem up ever made by far.
>>3406438
just started playing this last week. pretty god damn fun.
playing with a gamecube controller. it absolutely kills my thumbs controlling both the character and the crosshair. I'm gonna wait until the callouses form to continue playing
also not /vr/
>>3406438
The first S&P is just as good, you should play it if you haven't.
>>3406460
Star Successor is best played with the Wiimote+nunchuck, it works tremendously well.
It's still good that they let you play using a GC controller or a classic, but if you haven't, do try with the wiimote, it feels like a light gun game, in a good way.
>>3405932
>shmuck
Eyy Vito why you gotta bust my balls like that
>>3406484
there's a pretty good iwata asks about s&p 1 and 2, among other things it does mention the controls

>In the end, we created places where the Wii Remote would be most advantageous, and places where the Nintendo GameCube controller or the Classic Controller would be most advantageous, deciding location by location within the game. So, played as a whole, whichever controller you use, it’s fun. But if you were to change controllers for each location - to the Wii Remote, for example - you might be able to seize the advantage anywhere.
dunno if you'd agree with that
Have some good games but very overated as dev. And altough people sometimes shit on it, I like Light Crusader the most of them.
>>3405732
Best 2D programmers ever.
>>3407036
Huh, that's a weird opinion to have. I found it to be a rather unremarkable game, though still decent enough.
>>3407046
imo the dungeon crawler aspect is just very great
>>3405924
well, if Cave weebs/stg spergs keep contrarian shitting on them, the roles will be reversed soon
let's see
>Gunstar Heroes
enjoyable enough. broken weps
>Alien Soldier
not fun to me (yes, i can clear it)
>Guardian Heroes
mediocrity
>Silhouette Mirage
novel ideas. decent, i guess. 7/10
>Radiant Silvergun
novel ideas again, but fucked up scoring system
>Mischief Makers
i like it. not enough to ever play again but yeah
>Sin and Punishment
good game.
>Bangai-O (DC)
greatness. prefer Spirit's smaller, more focused stages though
>Ikaruga
masterpiece. I don't enjoy playing it, though. it's funny how stg spergs bitch about how the game is a "puzzle" when almost every shmup, outside of a few like zanac, are memorizers. protip: your uguughguu cave games are mnemonic puzzles too. ikaruga just made it more visually apparent
>Advanced Guardian Heroes
wayyyy better than the lifeless original. the twitchy countering alone makes it fun. that said, a technical mess. game was clearly undercooked. if they put another six months into it, it'd be great
>Astro Boy
ehhhhh. i'm really not into these sidescroller action things. why did treasure think rpg mechanics made this things better again?
>Gradius V
great gradius game, which means i don't like it. at least i have the ost
>Sin and Punishment
hate it. the only thing that made the original interesting was how grounded the character was for a rail shooter. now you can zip around the screen and spam dodge. stupid
>>3407082
>it's funny how stg spergs bitch about how the game is a "puzzle" when almost every shmup, outside of a few like zanac, are memorizers.
We don't hate it because you need to memorize. We hate it because there are better chaining systems out there and bullet absorption is a terrible gimmick. Also, the enemies' bullet patterns and designs are rubbish.
Alien Soldier is so good, I just wish it was longer and it had made use of the six button controller for easier weapon switching.
>>3407129
>We
Nigger you don't speak for the board, it's one or two shitposters forcing this meme.
>>3407129
>bullet absorption is a terrible gimmick.
>>3407082
>now you can zip around the screen and spam dodge. stupid
Absolute shite reason to hate a game desu.
>>3407334
It's pretty shit, senpai. See this cool pattern? 100% harmless.
Probably my favorite developers, tons of great stuff. Mischief Makers is my favorite platformer, top 5 goat.
Love these guys, just on the strength of Gunstar Heroes, Dynamite Headdy, and Silouette Mirage.
Gunstar Heroes is my favorite game of all time
>>3407381
Ah, yes, the Retarded Polar Bear Pattern.
One of my favorite devs, I like their platformers and run 'n guns quite a bit but I find their shmups to be not very fun. Bangaioh being the exception, though it's not a true shmup.
Their older 2D games for the most part are pretty average, with the exception of the boss fights, which are all amazing.
This pretty much makes Alien Soldier their best work from those days. Gunstar Heroes is also good, but the normal gameplay is very generic. Pretty much same goes for Dynamite Headdy.
By the time the N64 came around, the overall quality of their games got much better. Not only does Mischief Makers maintain the trademark amazing boss fights, the normal platforming is very well done. Check out a speedrun at some point, it's very impressive and not too many glitches are used. It's just very well executed movement.
Sin and Punishment is an amazing rail shooter, not much to say beyond that.
Gunstar Super Heroes improves the game in a LOT of ways, but also kinda fucks it up too. Personally, I'd rather play this game than Gunstar Heroes.
>>3405732
i hope they're not dead. no new titles in years.
>>3407606
>not too many glitches used in the speedrun
What about the infinite height-gain jump glitch?
I just finished Sin and Punishment for the first time yesterday.
What a fucking incredible experience.
>>3409784
Now play it on hard and unlock the turbo and timeskip modes
>>3409793
That's what I'm working on.
At least on Hard mode I can still do what I did on normal and being able to blaze through the first four levels without dying so I've got enough credits stocked up by the time I really start having trouble.
>>3407573
I laughed at this more than I should have.
>>3407573git gud
I'm playing Gunstar Heroes for the first time right now.
It's pretty fun but I am getting my ass handed to me. I've got to get better at learning the boss patterns. I'm also avoiding using Homing+Laser because that shit just makes everything too easy.
>>3407330
It's my favorite game for the system and being longer is probably the only thing that could have improved it. I've never played a game of that style that feels so impenetrable at first that makes you feel like a god when you've got it all down. No bullshit either, just action. Too bad it never became a series or at least got one sequel.
>>3407381
That's the level 1 boss, of course it's going to be easy. Most shmups have easy first levels.
>>3405732
Pretty good stuff.
>>3411982
His filename clearly says stage 5, though.
I feel like their games are liked on here for their difficulty and not much else. I liked Gunstar Heroes though, good shooting with good platforming segments and bosses.
>>3414331
Tp unlock Hard you need to beat it on Normal first. The difficulty option is the panel in the top right hand corner of the main menu. There's plenty of menu translations on the internet if you can't work out which is hard.
I played it on the Wii U Virtual Console which has all the English translations for menus. Even with the input lag I still had a fucking amazing time. I just had to change the gamepad configuration so that C-right and C-left were mapped to Y and X respectively. I was stuck for ages on stage 2-2 with the electric fences you had to dodge through because double tapping the right analogue stick in order to dodge is fucking terrible.
>>3412957
Oh right. It's just a regular enemy, actually. Also not hugely impressive that those are easy.
>>3405737
Only game of note I played from them. One of the best games ever.
>tfw we'll never get to play GunBeat
>>3415316
I wonder if the engine for that was a prototype for Sin & Punishment...
