Get on my fukn lvl
Wait.. there was only 6?
Jesus, I must have been so close so many times.

Getting a special stage in Labyrinth Zone is near impossible.
I did this when I was a kid, Sonic 1's special stages are very easy.
>>3396469
Yeah, first game only has six. It was the second game onward that had seven chaos emeralds and super Sonic.
>>3396540
They're the easiest in the series by far, I also accomplished this while very young. Sonic 2's special stages can go fuck themselves though.
>>3396545
I fuck up more often in 1's special stages than 3's. Sonic and Knuckles aren't even that bad, except maybe the last two.
>>3396551
the special stages in sonic 3 are easy once you learn that you can turn the spheres into rings.
And yeah ,the S&K ones are even easier, they seem to be more "on rails" if that makes sense, with a few tricky parts here and there (like having to bounce off and change direction, etc)
Still, Sonic 1 ones are easy, but there's a factor of unpredictability that might fuck you up, but for the most part, very easy.
Sonic 2 ones are the hardest (with or without tails) and require the most memorization. Sonic CD are hard due to UFOs being quick as fuck to dodge in the later ones.

>they seem to be more "on rails" if that makes sense
What you mean is that they are all linear. Except the first one, anyway.

Holy shit OP, are you me? I have never properly beaten Sonic 1 with all 6 emeralds so I decided on a whim yesterday to do just that. First time ever doing that. I might have cheated since I played it on Sonic Jam with spindash on, but I'm so used to playing Sonic 1 without spindash that I never used it.
I'm happy for you guys

Shit Hollywood WHAT are you doing?
>>3396472
>Getting a special stage in Labyrinth Zone is near impossible.
No? I mean, it can be if you take the alternate route in Act1 on REV00, but other than that it's fine. Sonic 1 being hard is a meme, unless you play with insane amounts of input lag (any emulated collection).

>tfw perfected every special stage with knux after lots of training, not perfecting them meant skipping the stage altogether
>stacked dozens of continues and lives while doing so
>spent no less than 70 hours in total
>wanted to record S3's Blue Sphere stage (it's a thing that happens every once in a while)
>start lifting S3's cart just the right amounts so that S3&K doesn't boot
>resulted in completely baleeting every S&K-related save, including the knux one so that I'm back to Mushroom Hill with 3 lives, 0 continues and non super emeralds
Sorry for blogging. At least I managed to record the original save.
Can the SS in Sonic 2 be retried if you fail?
Also can anyone go Super besides Sonic?

>Can the SS in Sonic 2 be retried if you fail?
Yes, but you still need to get 50 rings again and touch the next starpost. You keep the rings with Knuckles doe.
>Also can anyone go Super besides Sonic?
Knuckles with lock-on. Tails is basically hard-mode because he can't go Super (at least it's less annoying). A cool thing is that resetting the console makes you keep all the emeralds as long as you start the game from the options screen.

>REV00
What makes it harder?
>>3397263
>it's not hard even on Kega Fusion
On your PC input lag is nothing short of acceptable and Kega is a competent emulator. Your point?
>>3397272
If you take the alternate path, you can only end up with 49 rings max on the signpost. REV01 added an extra ring midway so you can actually finish with 50 and get the big ring.
>>3396541
There are six emeralds to collect because Eggman has the seventh one, right?
>>3397208
literal faggot
"The darkness is finally over..."
>>3398792
>>3398387
No, it's because South Island has 6 emeralds, while West Side Island has 7. They're different emeralds, even though the lore was never fully explained.
Play retro games, they said...
It'll be fun, they said...
