I could do one for each console, but this is what I mainly played.
I'm too lazy to make a new one. It's mostly retro anyway.

Whoops, brain fart. SNK at any rate.
Do you prefer Fatal Fury over King of Fighters?
just curious what do the rating mean?
Sorry for watermark, did this on the go

I'm assuming the denominator is how many of the games you've played and the numerator is the number of those games you find good.

What's with the massive console bias? Where are the Epyx, Lucasarts, Sierra, Rainbow Arts, Midway, Taito, Origin Systems games?
>>3386403
Rogue almost makes my list, but with only 9 slots tough choices have to be made.
What's the secret of the 3x3 matrix? How does it work? I never saw these before.
>>3386426
Watch some anime, then you'll understand.
>>3386403
The only company I respect from your list is Taito.
You sound like an anal old fuck who grew up playing shit computer games and nothing else.

Is the lower left game keio yugekitai?
>>3386685
its Mischief makers, you yutz
>>3386685
No, that's Mischief Makers.
It's honestly really hard to make a 3x3 for my favorite retro games. There are too many games I love and I'm a massive RPGfag so my 3x3 ends up being almost entirely JRPGs.
>>3386527
What do you mean shit computer games? Computers have always been better than consoles. I grew up with an Atari 8-bit and a Commodore.
>>3387701
Arcades > consoles >>> old PCs, go play shitty ports and text adventures elsewhere, western games were shit for a long time.
>>3387701
Thank for proving his point, eurofag.
The Atari 8-bit and the C64 are garbage compared to their console contemporaries.
>>3387741
In what possible way? >>3387741
The computers of the 1980's got superior ports of all the best arcade games of the time and allowed for far better experimentation and complex game experiences such as Ultima, Bard's Tale, Wolfenstein, Impossible Mission, Mystery House, Wasteland, California Games, Below the Root, Legacy of the Ancients. Consoles have always been bargain bin. There's never been anything of worth on consoles.
>>3387859
Don't argue with these faggots, man.
You're being had.
>>3387741
You have no clue what you're talking about.
The NES had shit hardware for its time.
>>3387701
>Computers have always been better than consoles
Not in the 80s they sure as fuck weren't.

>>3387996
Completely subjective and based on taste. Console and computer games were very different and appealed to different people in different ways.
>>3387862
Oh yeah, the C64 version looks great at half the resolution. What a terrible comparison shot to try and prove your point.
>>3387996
Computers since the early 80's have gotten every worthwhile game ported to or made first for them with superior visuals and capabilities.
>>3388029
Yet the nes has a squashed color palette with nothing in the scene.
You're a fool that refuses to accept facts.
>>3388032
Computers have more capabilities than consoles. They're not just toys to occupy children.
>>3388032
More like sad people who only ever had one or the other getting upset at everyone else.
>>3388056
Well I was young. I couldn't afford both in the 80's. But my IBM PC was better than an nes. I didn't need one.

Depends on the game really. Consoles basically sucked for adventure, RPG, simulation and strategy games. But they were really good for arcade games and related like platform or shoot'em ups.
I had an Amiga 500 at one point, and it was kind of an in-between those two worlds, but sadly many of the arcade ports were lame because they didn't put much work in them (that Castlevania port being one of the worst), but when they actually put in some effort it paid off. Pic is good example, it was coded by Factor 5 (same guys who made Turrican).
Also all those games that were mouse-based (like Lemmings) would basically suck on console with gamepad. And ditto with games that needed full keyboard (typically stuff like flight simulator, or just any game where you type stuff).
>>3388081
Also there's a whole massive category of puzzle games that never saw the light of day on consoles.
>>3388059
Well we weren't poor and I can tell you from experience that having both was way better than just one or the other. Consoles and computers are both great at games and in different ways.
>>3388062
Ridiculous comparison, the NES hardware was 7 years old when that game came out. You can't compare 1983 hardware to a brand new PC in 1990.
>>3388062
I wasn't referring to technology. OBVIOUSLY PC has ALWAYS had better hardware.
>>3388134
It's had better games as well. Consoles have nothing but casual games for children. With a computer, you have a wider range of input and have to actually use your brain.
>>3388138
>only one kind of game is good
Poorfags still having console wars after all these years is pretty hilarious.
>>3387862
>The computers of the 1980's got superior ports of all the best arcade games
Are you retarded? 90% of the ports were garbage because they were developed by shitty eurocompanies
>better experimentation and complexity
You mean shitty slow-ass "games" with more text than actual gameplay? lol
Face it eurocunt, western games sucked big time.
>>3389296
Nah, Gryzor on the Amstrad CPC was really good port. Lots other good ones too, like Ikari Warriors, Arkanoid, Gauntlet, Tempest, Defend or Die (Defender clone), etc. It just depends on who made the port. There were plenty of bad ones, but nothing like 90%, else people would have stopped buying games altogether and it would be european version of video game crash.
There were a lot of original 8-bit computer games too like Barbarian (Palace), Knight Lore, Spy vs. Spy, Boulder Dash, etc.
This was hard as hell, not even sure about all the picks, there's so much games to choose from.
>>3380303
Cool stuff, although I prefer FFVI to FFIV
>>3380304
Mischief Makers, fucking nice
Always preferred SMB3 to SMW though
>>3380429
Why Final Doom over Doom 1 or 2? Also why Counter-Strike 1.6?
>>3380442
I really should play Shenmue
Mad props for Rayman 2, one of the best 3D platformers ever
>>3380552
How's Seiken Densetsu 3? Heard good stuff about it
>>3380558
Refreshing to see Crash Bandicoot 1, I think it's really underrated. Not as good as 2, but definitely better than 3 which overdid it with the fucking gimmicky levels (I hated the motorcycle, airplane etc levels, they really break the pace of the game)
MGS1 was good, but there's not a lot of gameplay in it, MGS3 did everything right
>>3380642
I've played the remakes of Ys I & II, with enhanced graphics and diagonal walking
Should I give the originals a try? They seem too ancient
>>3380675
Always preferred Fallout 2 to 1, it had a less serious story, but so much more content
>>3382168
Don't recognize bottom mid, what is it?
>>3382356
Atari 2600, now that's some old pick right there, I don't think its games can stand up to the 3rd generation consoles and onwards
Always great to see Doom
>>3382818
Heard that Saga Frontier is really complex, should I make an effort and get into it?
Holy shit is that Tyrian? You're my nigga for life

I hate wrestling games for some reason, but you have some great picks on there, KoF98 and Metal Slug 3 are amazing, same goes for Contra
>>3386456
Never understood how people can prefer Megaman 3 over 2, or any other game in the original series other than 1. The level design isn't as good, and the recycling of bosses in Willy's Fortress is shit. Great OST though.
Pokemon Snap is dogshit, I don't see what people see in that game, and I hate seeing it next to quality stuff like DKC2 or Super Metroid
>>3380303
Only played about 20 minutes of Suikoden II. Am I missing out?
>>3390996
What's the game at the top? Nice to see some love for Ristar.
>>3386456
I spent a good 10 hours playing Pokemon Snap the first day I played it. I need to replay it, sometime. Also, Ecco for Dreamcast is good?
>>3386198
SNK rules. Ever beat Contra without the code?
>>3384143
Now THAT'S a template! I wanna play Lunar, but it scares me. I hear there's lost of grinding.
>>3382818
Saga Frontier... I played it, but the memories are a blur. It's kinda weird, if I remember correctly.
Not completely /vr/, but good enough.
>>3393080
>cinematic experience: the list
pure fucking cancer.
At least put something like M.U.L.E, Star Raiders, Ballblazers, Roadblasterz,or Rescue on Fractulus on there. Do you even play retro games?
I'll take it a step further.
