Nah it's just a bit of Rare's trademark humor, not supposed to be taken seriously. And they made a lot of jokes about their games too anyway.

It's different from something of the likes of Sega's "Genesis does what Nintendont" or this >>3379080, which are clearly serious marketing attempts of denigrating the competition.

6 years old, playing Street Of Rage 1 as Adam. I took his battlecry for 'Julia' and didn't know a single word of english back then to read the story, so I thought Julia was his girlfriend and he was fighting those punks to save her. Then I came to the recolored Blaze Boss and even made up a story about her being Julia and the bad guys brainwashing her to make us fight.

The 4's in Donkey Kong Country looked like 6's to me, but instead of just coming to the reasonable conclusion that they looked similar, I "figured out" that the lives system worked like this:

>5 lives, lose 1, go back up to 6
>6 lives, lose 1, go down to 3 to make up for the "extra" life
