Nostalgia. Contra NES was their first experience with this type of game. While Super C is superior on nearly all fronts, it'll never have the nostalgic value that Contra holds.

Picked up pic related the other day. It's not great but you can tell that it could of been a good game. Not polished enough.

I like both but I think Super C is better my only real complaint with Super C is the overhead missions which kinda suck on a four way dpad.

Super C. Top down levels were more fun than the third person ones. Also just better all around. I was so thrilled the first time I did a pea shooter only run.

Level design is extremely dull in Super C. Not sure how anyone can prefer it to the original game.

I was playing the Jap Super Contra last week, is there a difficulty difference between regions?
The difficulty ramps up a few stages in to the point of unfairness. And i'm pretty good at the first Contra.
The top down missions are an improvement but i still prefer Contra.
