I just played alien hominid for the first time last night and damn it's so good . Golden Axe is a beat em up, Diablo is a hack n slash RPG with a view that goes top down and DMC is a hack n slash action game with style/combo's as the main feature.

Contra is great, but sometimes it gets a little boring and repetitive to me. Same with Metal Slug, which is honestly boring and repetitive as fuck.

Cybernator has: switchable weapons with different physics; weapon upgrades; dash, shield and jetpack abilities; fire direction lock; great plot and setting. All in all, it's one of the best shooting games I've played.

The POINT of Contra is shooting and killing. The point of Metroid is EXPLORING.

Metroid enemies get revived when you leave the room. There's absolutely no point in shooting them, except to get health drops. Moreover, they're so slow and shitty, it's not even fun with most enemies. If you think the whole point is in shooting them, congratulations—you're retarded. Seriously. Go see a doctor but I guess there's no point. Maybe your mom didn't tell it to you, but you have mental deficiency.

Which are basically Zelda-style upgrades. You couldn't open some door or kill some enemies, now you can. They are not for combat. "Combat" in Metroid is nearly nonexistent, you either kill an enemy with 1 shot of a certain kind or you don't leave a scratch. Classic adventure pseudo-fighting.

That's almost the whole fucking point. In Metroid, your objective it to navigate a labyrinth. Find exits, keys, etc. Enemies are just minor obstacles. Health only truly matters in boss fights; most "damage" comes not from combat, but from simply not having necessary upgrades or platformer elements.

In Contra, it's all about shooting. Kill or be killed. Not touching a bullet is all that matters. There's some platforming but not that much. There are always enemies around which you need skill to deal with, not some Zelda-style upgrade.

If you put Contra into a labyrinth with doors that need different key cards and super-easy enemies that you can simply disregard or kill with 1 shot, it'd become Metroid. Because you'd deliberately make it a labyrinth adventure.

Midnight Resistance is great, you can hold your direction a bit like a twin stick game which sets it apart a bit from other shooters.

The way you get to pick your upgrades at the end of a level with collected keys is nice. Shame the only weapon worth choosing is the flamethrower which makes it too easy since you can whip it around the screen.

Are you fucking kidding me? Have you even played MGS? If you play it like a 2D shooter, the guards will sound the alarm and most probably kill you immediately. Not to mention bosses like that shaman on a tank where direct approach will get you killed immediately.

The whole point of MGS is stealth action, outsmarting your enemies.

How hard is it to accept that shooters are games in which the most important point is shooting? Doom, Contra, Metal Slug, House of The Dead are shooters of different kind. Metroid and MGS are not.

Rocket is just a better alternative to beam. Mostly used for doors and bosses. The whole point is that they deal more damage, so you load up on them before a boss.

Bomb is nearly useless to fight enemies.

All the meme upgrades change almost nothing, simply allowing you to kill new enemies you couldn't kill before or open new doors.

Compare this to Contra, where you have a flamethrower, machine gun, spread guns and so on. All have very different physics and feel to them.
