This one was my favorite in the series.
I remember putting in Mr. Domino and being amazed that I got a slime dude with a domino pattern.
Yeah, played and loved both back in the day. It's a shame they don't have a more mature version of it with a similar mechanic now days. I'd still play it a bit, honestly.
I loved the PS1 ones. Never tried any of the others on different systems, but have heard a lot of mixed things.
I'm really disappointed the genre never caught on, especially afterafter Pokemon caught on. You'd think the idea of breeding, raising, fighting monsters would be a more popular idea. I think Pokemon's simplistic combat and focus on battles over raising/breeding really killed any chance of that kind of genre taking off. Even today I don't think anything like a modern Monster Rancher would work because Pokemon has defined people's idea of what monster raising games are.
