I actually did 100% on the MGS1 vr missions recently.
Some were really annoying and not fun at all but I kept going because I wanted to play the ninja missions... they weren't as fun as I expected and it was only 3 of them.
Also fuck doing best time records to unlock Mei Ling. I'm not doing that, and these 3D models are kind of ugly anyway.

But anyway

Only got into MGS recently, and I quit MGS4 recently because I hated it.

MGS was my favourite, followed by 3, then 2.
I also played MG and most of MG2 which were quite impressive games.

I've loved the attention to detail in all of them. Are the VR missions fun?

I feel it's not that 2 had too many VR missions so much as that it had too many redundant ones. Meanwhile the original VR Missions threw more varied and surreal shit at you. It even gave you fucking murder mysteries.

MGS1 vr missions made you replay the same ones a lot, first on practice, then on time trial. You can't skip the practice ones if you want 100%.

Yes. But keep two things in mind

MGS1 vr missions force you to play most levels them twice. Once without a timer ("practice"), and once with ("time attack"). You need to do both versions if you want to unlock more levels.

MGS2 vr missions has you replay the missions 5 to 6 times, but ups the difficulty every time. It has less variety than MGS1 vr but makes up for it with even better music and a higher level of challenge.
