They all have different things to offer, so there's no absolute best.
Even Rogue (the original roguelike) has its own strong points compared to say Nethack. Neither is better though. Rogue is ideal if you just want a simple and quick tactical game, while Nethack is something to spend years discovering tricks and ways to exploits situations.

has a point even if you limit yourself to turn based 1st person grid games, e.g. the Wizardry and Might & Magic series are just made with different goals in mind and have different strengths.
