ITT; Bullshit
The unaccountable power of Psychic types in Gen 1 Pokemon.
Mario Party CPU AI
>>3317141
I agree OP having eight extra lives is bullshit it only takes one.
>>3317205
You just needed a Ghost pokemon.
>>3317247
Ghosts are all part poison in gen 1 and they have no notable ghost moves.
>>3317250
he knows hes just a shitposter
>>3317239
Yeah because you can't just use a Psychic type yourself, right?
The tendency of S3K's final boss' final phase (when Eggman is flying away with the emerald behind him) to rebound you into the pit after you fought the actual boss. If you're playing with Tails, Tails hitting the boss before you (giving him iframes and making it so you can't rebound when you're counting on it) will give you a nasty death.
Doable? Very. Obnoxious when it happens? Definitely.
This level should have been called "Foreground" Fuckery". It's often pretty simple but not knowing what layer you're on becomes a major nuisance.
>>3317141
If you want real bullshit play the NES bootleg version of it. Good luck.
>>3318867
that reminds me of this
>>3318846
People who complain about the barrel is more of a meme than the barrel itself.
>>3318886
I love that game but it is rife with bullshit. The shuriken that blend in with the waterfall background is one of my pet peeves.
>>3318886
You don't need the double jump to pass over the red cars and there's a telltale blue car before they actually show up. So it's just about killing the kunoichis as fast as you can.
>>3317509
That should never happen if you never let go of right. It will still be butt-clenchingly close though.
>>3318896
My main problem with RoS is that most enemies will start attacking almost before you can even see them, memorization is a must, and shooting shuriken from afar is the most efficient way to go through the game. I know playing without shuriken is possible but it's retarded.
Still love the game, it's great.
>>3318903
I know but I still sometimes double-jump out of reflex and forget the other side has a pit. It's the stage that fucks me up the most.
>>3319143
You're a stupid faggot
I've beaten the game a dozen times, but that shit just is what it is
I like the cars though, that stage is cool
>>3318904
>if you never let go of right
Was this actually unironic advice?
>>3317141
Fuck that level.
Stopped me from playing the game for years.
Earthworm Jim underwater bullshit.
>>3317141
I can't believe I managed to beat that level as a kid.
>>3319205
I see people here complaining about this plus metal sonic all the fucking time.
It really isnt that hard at all. I can do it without losing lives at this point. For metal sonic just make sure you hit him in the face rather than jumping on top of him and for Eggman just wait for him to drop down because then he lowers his spikes giving you a free hit.
>>3319143
>GIT GUD!
Or you can stop memeing for a change and give him a real advice just like I did in the last post you quoted.
>>3319336
>implying git gud isn't advice
>>3319357
Too bad you suck at the game now, at the age of 12
>>3319203
Yes. For that particular part.
>>3319143
I'm actually fairly good at Shinobi, the other day I was at a friend's place and they had Super Shinobi on PS3, and I started playing and they were like "wow dude you're so good"... they can't even beat the first stage though, lol.
Most people who don't invest some time playing the game and memorizing the stages won't get too far.
The game isn't bullshit though, but it's got a lot of trial and error. Especially because of this:
>>3318908
>most enemies will start attacking almost before you can even see them
>>3319336G . I . T . G . U . D . ! ! !
>>3319205
Probably one of the most bullshit free final boss battles ever actually.
>>3317472
The anime didn't know any better though.
>>3319705
Probably one of the easiest final bosses of all time, honestly.
These threads will always bring out the contrarians.
It's one of my favorite games ever made, but even I think this bit is bullshit. I couldn't even find someone doing it legitimately on youtube. They all end up taking one of the shortcuts.
>>3317205
Balanced by normal types being overpowered and viable ,with psychics having weak defenses.
>>3320873
You're not honestly trying to say psychic wasn't OP in gen 1 are you? Keep in mind that most normal types didn't have a high special and it hadn't been split into attack and def yet which meant they were all quite susceptible.
Alakazam is hands down the most broken regular Pokemon in the game. There isn't even debate.
>>3320884
>There isn't even debate.
>the pipe in Super Metroid
>the underwater mines in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
>most of World 7 in SMB3
>no good Bug, Grass, Dragon, Ghost, or Poison moves in Gen I
The CPU on UMK3 is ridiculous.
>>3319364
Oh, it's just that there's such a perception that Sonic's core gameplay mechanic is based on simply holding right, that it's practically a meme.
>>3321257
I disagree hugely about the pipe in Super Metroid (you mean the glass one in Maridia right?) but I've always considered both world 7 and 8 on SMB3 to be horrid chores.
>>3320479
I'm getting upset just watching this.
It makes no sense. When it does work, it seems like Ecco gets locked into a scripted movement or something.
>>3321265
I understood that. But that section hardly counts as gameplay. It's like an interactive cut scene to end the boss fight on.
>>3317141
>I beat this game as an 11 year old
>there are adults who can't even beat the second stage
C'mon guys, you can do it. Just apply yourselves, it's not so hard.
>>3319935
is this runescape?
>>3321419
I beat it too, but that doesn't mean the segment in OP isn't flawed. One of the devs of the game even came out and admitted that there were issues with perfectly timed jumps still causing you to fail, and they tried to fix the problem but even after extensive testing they couldn't solve it entirely.
>>3319832
Gen I Sabrina was perfect. They ruined her with the redesign.
>>3321419
The genesis version is supposedly easier
>>3317141
Beat that game when I was 8 on snes, no help or guides, git gud u cuck
>>3321279
>>3322204
Once you know what to do it's actually not that bad (I still find Asterite more of a pain), which is why I was surprised I couldn't find anyone on youtube actually doing it. But it does take precise timing. And back when I was practicing enough to get it right I didn't know there were ways to skip it.
Anyways, you'll notice in the gif that when you do a vertical jump you can make Ecco drift left or right some. You need to employ the drifting, but you can't do it from a vertical jump. Swim fast right along the left wall. Then at the last moment turn and do a diagonal jump out of the water and as soon as the jump starts hold left again on the dpad so Ecco drifts a little. That makes him not hit the right corner and you'll land in the next pool. The other ones are tricky, but nowhere near as tough.
>>3318867
It's pretty easy to see where the foreground and where the backgrounds are. You should have picked Rocket Rush, THAT level is some serious bullshit. Same with Poisonous Pipeline.
>>3321118
Tauros is really good, but it's not as OP as Alakazam.
>>3320884
One of the very first Pokemon tournaments in America was won by a guy with 6 Chanseys
>>3317247
type effectiveness for ghosts to psychic damage in gen 1 was actually 0x (a ghost type move could not deal damage to a psychic pokemon at all). This is largely assumed to be an error since it was changed in later games and was directly referenced in both the game and anime.
That being said, as >>3317250 states, there where barely any ghost type moves (night shade deals damage based on user level, lick is shit for damage, and confuse ray deals no damage), as well as all the ghost types available in gen 1 being part poison, a type with a notable weakness to psychic.
>>3319205
No.
>>3320868
This.
The fight is really weird because if you don't hit him a certain way at a certain time you just sort of clip through him and get killed by his hands. The trick is to back up and jump straight at him as soon as you hear his footstep, then rebound off his chest back onto the floor. Repeat through the whole walk cycle. If you do it right you can kill him in about one loop of his attack pattern.
>>3322781
> implying upper image is hard and second unfair
Go suck some dicks, faggot. Maybe that'll make you gudder.
>>3322442
Maybe in the absolute sense against all Pokemon.
Alakazam gets walled by other psychic types that people tend to use. Tauros can push through a lot and only has to really worry about fighting (and things it won't do much damage on), which no one wants to bother with when psychics make up half of every team. By being normal type, he's also immune to being paralyzed by body slams.
>>3322792
>implying upper image is hard and second unfair
You're stuck if you didn't get the magnet beam in the upper one and you've already lost the moment you enter the room if you don't have enough weapon energy in bottom.
That's what called bullshit.
You need to stop sucking so many dicks, it seems to make your brain rot.
>>3322828
>Maybe in the absolute sense against all Pokemon.
That's what I was saying.
>>3318884
>>3317141
>Bootleg
Got it.
>>3320479
Is this the first Ecco? I remember a part a bit like that.
>>3320884
Chansey is pretty OP, high hp, high special.
>>3320479
I managed to do this as a kid. It took me bloody hours. Then afyer i made it to the top, i paused and went to get a drink...
Sitting on the floor, whe. I turned around my foot hit the power plug .
>Tv static
I had accidentally unplugged my MD
>Oh god the rage I felt that day.
>>3324545
how could the lions even make a noose
>>3321453
That's fucking bullshit, where's your source? I've never failed at any of the ostrich segments due to anything but mistimed inputs, there's no fucking random factor in there.
>>3325357
https://np.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/2bef9h/walked_in_to_a_gaming_pawn_shop_last_night_walked/cj4ysdi
>>3325365
>Also, we never could figure out why, on that level only, sometimes you wouldn't make jumps it looked like you should have. The programmers went to extraordinary lengths to figure it out and even made the mechanism that detected if you caught the edge much more robust, but still messes up.
Oh, so he was talking about the hippo segment then. Yeah, the edge grab detection is complete shit, no question there. Completely hopeless in the Genesis original version, more than slightly irritating in the SNES port.
>>3325379
Yeah I remember the hippos being a lot harder than the ostrich part.
>>3317205
>tfw I beat everyone with hypno and breezed through the game
>>3325379
Isn't the hippo detection worse in the SNES port? I know some of the collision is worse.
>>3317141
Apparently, this level was designed to keep people from beating the game as a weekend rental.
There's a stupid glitch near the end though where Simba gets killed by nothing if he doesn't time the jump perfectly. He reacts like he's hit a nest or a tree branch, but there's nothing above him. You just gotta use trial and error until you get the timing perfect because you can't see the invisible obstacle.
>>3325921
Kinda like The Escape in Aladdin, I assume.
>>3325921
Is it actually glitched? I thought it was just a strange hitbox on the nest as well as the ostrich itself needing to clear the pink rhino below.
>>3324545
Pumba has the best
>>3325126
That's rough. The jump took me a lot of trying but I did get it. It was the freaking Asterite that I got stuck on for so long I ended up trying to find codes by mixing up previous ones and ended up warping to The Machine. Shit freaked me out.
>>3323127
>4chan's oldest board
wat
/vr/ is new as shit
>>3326620
I'm pretty sure he meant oldest users.
I fucking love this game and all its cruel bullshit.
>>3317141
I also beat it as a kid and recently played through it again. There is a great episode of dev's play on youtube where on of the devs tells stories about the development of the game.
>>3326634
/ck/ has actual 40 year old mothers and fathers using it
>>3326780
Here's the video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kILeyo1iv0A
>>3327000
Rather have redditers here than retard underaged shitposters like you
Reddit needs to be wordfiltered to something weaboo, just to annoy everyone imo
>>3326912
I'm 42 and I'm on here most days. /ck does have a large population of older people though. So does /tg, /p and /ic. The text boards had mostly oldfags before they took them down.
>>3325921
>>3326114
It's not a glitch, it's just the game handling what happens weirdly. The ostrich needs to make it passed the obstacles without getting hit. The rhino/pig/whatever and the branch can both damage it, so it makes the timing tricky for people who don't expect it.
So if you suddenly die in midair for seemingly no reason, it's most likely because the ostrich hit something. When you learn when you have to double jump, it'll stop happening.
>>3317141
These fucking assholes were made specifically so that people run into them without seeing them and get hit/poisoned
>>3317481
How does that make Psychic balanced?
I played that Lion King game on the SNES a lot as a kid, and I don't recall any problems with its second level.
I had trouble with the baboon, and that fucking lava level.
>>3328340
FFS they may have been camouflaged to an extent but it was perfectly easy to see them once you'd familiarised yourself with them.
>>3327147
Romania.
>>3322470
Turbo Tunnel isn't really that hard it's mostly all the same pattern back and forth. There's only a few parts that mix it up. The part that I screw up on is the part where you have to manually jump onto several small islands.
>>3329106
>Ironic shitposting
>>3329042
Well, it's quite challenging for a game targeted for kids, but comfy for an adult.
>and that fucking lava level
Except for this. Fuck that level.
>>3329042
>>3329170
Why does that level even exist? Every level was at least based on events that happened in the movie.
>Hey kids, remember when Simba traversed Lethal Lava Land with thousands of cheap ways to die?
That was my favorite part of the movie.
>How about that time he kicked a gorilla's ass?
Who could forget that timeless moment?
>>3317141
I've heard that this levels difficulty was increased in order to promote repeat rentals, but as an 11 year old, renting it for the weekend… I don't recall having any issues. I remember the poop throwing monkeys being my issue.
also pic related, obligatory.
>>3318886
That stage is annoying, but what is more annoying is how enemies see you from far away in this game because of that you will die many times.
That maze-castle stage is the true bullshit thing in that game from what I remember.
>>3319331
The problem is that doing a mistake = dead. So I understand why some think it is hard or bullshit, because redoing the Mecha-Sonic fight again is kinda boring.
You can make the fight easier if you get behind Robonik and attack his back for like 6 times. Or just playing Sonic Jam that gives you 3 rings at the beginning of the stage.
>>3329382
And here I thought that I was telling a true story…
whats a DYKG?
>>3329251
That parts actually really easy if you just stop, go back a step, and inch forward. The reaper will clip himself off the screen and you can proceed no problem.
This is on a modern system.
>>3322327
nah, the burning rope one still wins
>>3329654
What is this? Reverse image search and searching "Lonely cat games" gives me nothing
>>3330062
It's a tech demo for the engine used by Hidden & Dangerous.

Game's freeware so you might as well give it a shot.
>>3329495
Internet shorthand for "dick girl"
>>3328278
That sounds more reasonable. Seems like Lion King has a lot of semi-legendary/urban myth kind of stuff going on these days.
>>3330530
