They're also the only 2 giant T-Rexes in the entire game. And you get the Grenade Launcher when you get that secret and the other previous 2 of the level. It's the very first level of Tomb Raider 2 btw. It's insane

I also remember half life 1 when u had to dive for something and the water was all dark and muddy and u could get attacked by those fucking fish.

well, Thief isn't really a horror game but it's spooky as a whole, even the first mansion can be somewhat eerie. I think OP meant scary moments in games that are otherwise absolutely not scary

Xizor's Palace was after the sewer level, I remember it because the Gladiator Droid was hard as fuck.

Alright so the moon is a giant anthropomorphic face crashing to the earth, it's creepy and probably doesn't need to be posted here because its' such an obvious example. But the real horror in it for me was when it cried. It just made it so pitiful and even more surreal.

Nothing has ever scared me, NOTHING, not a game, movie or anything, as much as Thief 1 did.
I could not fucking get through Return to the Cathedral the first time as a teen. I ended up slamming escape in panic to exit to the menu a half dozen times and getting up from the computer to calm down. Didn't help that I was playing during a thunderstorm at the time, too. One of my most vividly enjoyable videogame experiences.. I wish I still felt things as strongly as that. ;_;

The encounter was much scarier for me because it comes so out of nowhere. This bit always felt sort of pandering and trying to recapture the first game's best moments.

I recently started playing OoT for the first time and the Gohma boss room was somewhat scary, everything is dark and you suddenly see him at the top.
