Why don't you love me, /vr/?
>>3289503
But I do, I love playing shinobi on you
>>3289503
Burger here. Have never seen 1 in action

Cool stuff. Try emulating it if you can't get one.
>>3289503
yes
zillion is in my top 5 fave games ever
>>3289503
I only ever had one console as a child, and the SMS Plus was it. You are everything to me.
>>3289521
Did anyone have one in Burgerland? Nostalgic NES fanboys are a dime a dozen but I never see any love for the SMS.
>>3289579
The monkey face guy from Game Sack had one when he was a kid/teeenager.
>>3289579
yes i had one growing up and like 20 games
i remember going to toys'r'us and looking at all the games on the racks. back when they put the front/back covers on a plastic flap you could flip up and read the back of.
>>3289579
It was barely a thing but my local game shop has master system games
>>3289521
Bong here. Never seen one either. Tho see em for sale a lot in retro groups.
I never had one back in the day but now I can play all the games on everdrive.
Is there a solution to the 3D glasses issue? Any sort of adaptor I can use with my megadrive?
>>3289503
>Why don't you love me, /vr/?
It's the Colecovision-tier sound without FM
My household had both an NES and and SMS growing up, so I guess I lucked out. I'm still pretty nostalgic for the SMS, but the console's library admittedly wasn't as great as that of the NES. Games also weren't as highly available back when they were first printed, so there are a lot of SMS gems I missed out on like Fantasy Zone. The regional releases were also weird. I think some titles were released in European territories, but not the U.S.
As for having the original hardware today, it's too overpriced. I just emulate my SMS library.
>>3289503
Dragon's Trap is the only game you have that I love. Everything else is lukewarm at best.
>>3289503
The only game that interested me on this thing was Phantasy Star 1
Why didn't Master System games have anywhere near as many memorable soundtracks as Nintendo systems?
>>3289503
You have the best versions of Sonic 8-bit games and Phantasy Star 1, so I love you.
I was born in 87, didn't know you existed until around the Dreamcast release.
>>3289503
Shit graphics, shit games. NES is far superior.
>>3290159
>Shit graphics
Am I reading this right?
Buddy, the SMS has better graphical capabilities than the NES by a long shot.
>>3290164
Compare Sonic to Mario 3 though.
>>3290154
Same age and sms was my first console
>>3290168
Sonic has much better color palettes and higher bit depth. What's your point?
As a kid I never saw one of these or a Turbografx in the wild
Now the collectors sell them for way too much
>>3290159
>Shit graphics
Nice meme.

I loved playing Spellcaster and Wonderboy & the Dragon's Trap on you as a wee burger.

0/10
I remember my dad brought home a SMS after my NES broke down. I fell in love with the sega after that. Montazuma's Revenge, R-type, Rastan, Alex Kidd, double dragon. It also had all of the Arcade games I loved to play too, like shinobi, golden axe, altered beast.
I think its sad that most Americans didn't have the chance to play this growing up.
I still liked playing NES at my friend's houses, but the SMS is still my favorite.
I played one while on vacation to my mom's uncle's lakeside cabin. I didn't realize what it was until almost 15 years later
I seriously had no idea the SMS even existed until emulators were a thing. Great system though.
I do, buddy. You were my first.
>>3289626
... Yes.
>>3289663
Basically nothing after 1990 was released in the US. Maybe Sonic 1 was, but other great games like Streets of Rage, Ninja Gaiden, Aladdin, and Mercs only got Game Gear releases, I think.
>>3289503
but i do love you
>>3291452
Not if Nintendo releases a year or two earlier and locks down the market with illegal practices, no.
Real talk, Master system...
I like the fact that your games look better than NES' but your sound chip is total shit.
And it doesn't help that 75% of the library worth playing is PAL.
>>3289503
>>3291472
A lot of SMS games sounded better with the FM Sound Unit add-on. Such a shame it was only released in Japan and only a few games supported it. Any reason why it never got a foreign release?
>>3289591
are you me?
>>3291535
maybe
also more kids in my neighborhood (upstate ny) had sega consoles. i swapped master system games regularly.
>>3291541
oh and i saw a genesis in person at a friend's house several years before i ever saw a snes in person. and one kid had a nes and only played zelda. boring.
>>3291527
Even weirder is that there are a few games that had FM support but didn't even come out in Japan.
>>3291472
The games aren't region locked, you know.
>>3289503
I do
the Sega Master System way outsold the NES in the UK. I literally only one guy with a Nintendo
MS runs quicker, smoother and is more colorful. It was superior to the NES
>>3291586
It also had a better library of games.
>>3291589
even the free games included in the system, either Hang On or Alex Kidd were better than the average NES game
>>3291589
No, the NES has better games, I like the MS but in the end the NES had more and better games.
>>3289503
To answer your question. It's because you're not me.
>>3289503
But I do, you have Alex Kidd in Miracle World and the Fantasy Zone sequels
>>3291614
Nope. The NES doesn't even have a good library. The Master System is leaps and bounds ahead.
>>3292252
This is what dumb Europoors and BR's unironically believe.
NES was *the* console of the '80s, and if you disagree you're objectively wrong.
>>3289521
I knew someone who did when I was 7. They had Ghostbusters on it and some Duck Hunt clone.
>>3292254
Why are Americans so obnoxious and stupid? You can have your shitty, little NES. Just don't act like everyone gives a shit about it.
>>3292270
>Duck Hunt clone.
You mean a light gun game? Duck Hunt didn't invent light guns.
the light phaser games were way better than nes zapper games
wanted
shooting gallery
safari hunt
dead angle
>>3292369
Not him, but you have the shittiest taste if you actually believe the SMS had a better library. There's a reason so many NES games remain legendary to this day while only a tiny fraction of people can name more than one SMS game.
>>3292423
Uh, because Nintendo fanboys continue to buy Mario, Zelda etc games? So you're admitting you only like Nintendo for their memes?
>>3292423
>a tiny fraction of people can name more than one SMS game.
That's because only a tiny faction had a SMS in America.
I agree though, even as a SMS fanboy I have to admit that, on the whole, the NES had more good games.
It's kind of the N64 vs PSX situation.
>letting this fag derail a perfectly good thread about the master system
>>3292429
>games are memes
ok kid
>>3289503
Racism.
>wanted Phantasy Star
>expensive as fuck here
Sad.
