u wot m8? You don't make the 'O' sound twice.
Anyway, it's Hydrocity (hi-drocity) because fuck you it sounds cool. But it's Sando polis, not Sandopolis.

Why did the S3&K act cards use that weird art deco font? Actually the thing just looks weird all around.
"Hydro-city" because it's a compound word. There's no such word as "hy-drocity."
>>3288492
Hydro City, you twit!
>>3289458
It's a compound word, and following the rules of how to read English, it's pronounced "Hydro-city." This isn't really up for any debate since, again, hydrocity itself isn't a word.
>Why do you keep putting an hyphen in the middle?
We keep putting A hyphen in it because we're separating the word into its phonetic components.
> It's a pun on Hydro and Velocity.
We already use velocity to describe the speed of water. We don't call the speed of a car its autocity, do we?
>>3289479
>hydrocity itself isn't a word
It's a proper name, just like Sandopolis. If it wasn't a whole new word it would just get spaced.
>We already use velocity to describe the speed of water.

Remember this is a Japanese game. They deemed it witty enough.

The fact that you bring up Sandopolis and DON'T recognize the theme when Hydrocity comes up is baffling.
Hydro-city. Sand-opolis. These are compound words wherein the first part evokes a feature of nature, combined with a feature of man made urban planning.
>It's a proper name
That doesn't preclude it from being a compound word.
You are allowed to pronounce any such things in whatever way you like.
EXCEPT for Ryu. If you have ever said "WRYE-OOH", you should be lined up with others of your kind and shot.
>>3289263
>You don't say metro-polis do you?
I actually do. Accents differ, m8. Deal it it dot jaypeg.
>>3289263
I'll take what the game says over what some ad company who only knows enough about the game in order to sell it to Australian children says.
>>3289719
You're like my English teacher who repeatedly pronounced it as "Don Kwizotay". Even though she was corrected multiple times.
/vr/ is linguistically retarded.
>>3288492
Hydro City.
>>3289114
None of those. It's Say-Ga, if you're going to pronounce it with a western accent. Otherwise, it's セガ.
And finally, about Sandopolis. The suffix is -Polis, so strictly speaking this is a compound of Sando and Polis. However, the Sando portion comes from a stylized and not so accurate translation of サンドポリス. Technically, it should be translated as Sandpolis. But for whatever reason, whoever wrote the English version of the name went with Sando. It was probably just a Japanese error or possibly a stylistic choice, but it's not a strictly correct transliteration.
Hydrocity.
Pronounced similarly to atrocity except that level is really cool and memorable.

Come on, m8. You lot are the only ones who pronounce all foreign words like they're French. Everyone else gets it right.
>>3294906
Are you seriously implying I was only referring to America? You're retarded.
>>3288492
If they wanted it to be Hydro City, they would have rendered it as such.
>>3295152
That was an unnecessarily hurtful thing to say.
Eh, just look at words like "underfed" obviously they're not pronounced the way they normally would be due to being compound words. Hydrocity is the same way, hence it is hydro-city.
>>3289141
You mean "none". Neither is for when there's a choice between 2.
Okay, the device used to measure fluid density: do you pronounce it hy-drometer or hydro-meter? Probably the former.
