Favorite N64 games and why. Pic related.
>Perfect blend of Ocarina of Time and Tomb raider
>Great Puzzles
>Huge levels with awesome design
>Indiana Jones
>>
>>3288330
My nigga. About time I see someone else appreciate this game. Also it's way better than Tomb Raider in every way.
>>
>>3288338
Agreed. If it wasn't for its stupidly limited release, it would probably be higher on the lists of great n64 games.
>>
I wish this was emulatable before I drop ~50 bucks just to play it
>>
>>3288383
If you have any decent retro game stores near you, I find its usually priced around 30-35 bucks for just the cartridge.
>>
>>3288330
I'm interested, but are the glitches actually as bad as they say?
>>
>>3288406
I've never encountered anything aside from a few minor graphical glitches. My only complaint would be that the controls can be irritating at times, but that's a very minor complaint. The visuals are pretty great for the time, especially with the expansion pak, and the story is pretty neat. Classic indiana jones adventure.

>I'm interested, but are the glitches actually as bad as they say?
It's the buggiest N64 game in existence, probably. It would never have passed Nintendo certification, which is likely why the PAL version from THQ was cancelled. It is, regardless, a fantastic game. Clearly rushed--some cutscenes are so full of mistakes they make me want to kill myself--full of bugs, but an N64 showcase and a darn good videogame with some improvements over the PC version.
>>
>>3288330
Blast corps.
>>
>>3288330
that game was pretty good but honestly it's clunky as fuck to play nowadays, the tank controls are awful
>>
>>3289963
It doesn't bother me. My one complaint is the controls, but like I said, it's a minor complaint.
>>
probably ocarina of time or goldeneye/PD
>>
Pretty generic answer but probably banjo kazooie, everything feels really tight and I love the worlds.

Kirby 64 (nostalgia and its a nice short and sweet game) and sin and punishmentn (great action and graphics) are honorable mentions.
>>
>>3290021
I stayed up till the wee hours of the morning getting down on goldeneye's split screen
>>
>>3290034
Generic doesn't always mean bad, anon. Banjo-Kazooie and Kirby n64 is always a good time.
>>
>>3288330
1080 Snowboarding. I played the shit out of it.

OP here. Rogue Squadron is a very close runner up for me. Awesome controls, sweet graphics for the time (especially with the expansion pak), and really makes you feel like you are a pilot in the star wars universe. Battle for Naboo deserves an honorable mention.

it's certainly under-appreciated, and unfortunately now has a shit rap thanks to those AVGN tards, but don't talk daft, m8.

For nostalgia and feels reasons.

first game i had on the N64

i remember the music being catchy by the game just being wierd as fuck

i literally have it away to get goldeneye
>>

>i remember the music being catchy by the game just being wierd as fuck
Those are actually two of the main reasons I really like this game. It's got that whimsical Japanese folklore style and a lot of Japanese humor if you're into that.
>>
>>3290186
AVGN shit talking infernal machine triggered me hard.

WCW/NWO Revenge. Sure Wrestlemania 2000 and No Mercy have the better rosters (WWE > WCW) and more features in general but I spent the most time with Revenge as a kid so I'm going with that. Honorable mention goes to Wave Race 64, the physics in that game hold up even today.
>>
>>3290276
i have WCW/NWO world tour

shit was bananas
>>
>>3289963
>that game was pretty good but honestly it's clunky as fuck to play nowadays, the tank controls are awful
The N64 version doesn't have tank controls, though.
>>
>>3290240
Classic
>>
>>3290105
Rogue Squadron is 2nd for me as well, but Battletanx was my favorite
>>
>>3289963
You must have played the PC version. The N64 version has way better controls. Plays a lot like OoT to be honest.
>>
>>3290105
Too bad the frame rate is shit in high res mode. Actually that seems to be a problem with 90% of expansion pack "enhanced" games. At least the frame rate is way better if you turn off high res in a lot of games.
>>
>>3290186
The first Tomb Raider is the closest thing to matching this game. But the shitty tank controls and piss easy puzzles don't even put it on par with this game. The other Tomb Raider games went full action because kiddies hate to explore and use their brain.
>>
>>3290198
Really want to get the 2D sequel but the prices for Great Adventure are insane now.
>>
>>3290404
Never had that problem. Like, ever.
>>
>>3288383

But it is, with some workarounds.

You need a special modified version of PJ64 and a savefile that allows you to skip that select menu that makes the game crash.

Goemon's GA is a must play, an everdrive might be a good idea considering the amount of good N64 games that are prohibitive right now and emulate like ass.
>>
>>3290487
You're delusional. The framerate takes a huge hit when games run in high res mode with some very small exceptions like Pokemon Stadium 2.
>>
>>3291745
Rogue Squadron/Battle for Naboo/Indiana Jones were designed to run at 400x440. The lower resolution is something like 280x200 or something. Rogue Squadron's performance isn't great, but Naboo and Indy are fine.
