It's pretty boss. Totally suggest using a map/walkthrough to find shit and learn where the Randars are - you're gonna need them a lot for healing. I like how the world opens out as you find items that let you walk over different terrain, but fuck the backtracking if you die - resorting to savestates is probably acceptable. Reattempting the dungeon corridors a ton if you make a mistake can get annoying, too.
