It's a fun game with great tunes, bro. Definitely the best Gauntlet.

As a kid, I liked The Third Encounter. It's the Gauntlet game that wasn't a Gauntlet game. Pirate was best class.

Of all Gauntlet-like games, though, there was one I had for Sega CD and another I had for TG16, both called Dungeon Explorer. While both were more RPG-like than standard Gauntlet, the SCD one also had purchasable equipment, which furthered the whole RPG aspect of the game. Dwarf and Princess were best in the TG16 version, Beast and Ninja in SCD version because Beast could freeze enemies and Ninja could shoot ahead and behind him at the same time.

Gauntlet 64 and Dark Legacy are still some of my favourite games. I don't understand why they can't just release an HD port and add online. It's really not that hard.

I don't get why the Quest Mode in Gauntlet IV still has that stupid fucking health drain mechanic until you find that item in the fire dungeon. Also no proper save system.
