smrpg or earthbound
Kind of a vague request.
Mostly only rpgs have stories
yeah i know but i played all the bigger ones like final fantasy and was thinking that maybe you guys know more of the not so famous ones

Skies of Arcadia if you have Dreamcast access.

yes
oh yeah i totally agree its amazing
Shatterhand is a pretty good NES game. You're lacking story, but it's fun to pick up every once in a while.
Try Times of Lore. I've never heard anyone talk about it, so maybe it'll be new to you.
I was captivated by the story of pic related, and I enjoyed a second playthough of the game too after knowing the secret of the Black Monster.

I heartily counter this recommendation - this game is a total bore.

Skies of Arcadia is so good.
And so is Lufia. But Lufia 2. The original has that archaic DQ combat system where you can't target individual enemies and attacks targeted at dead enemies miss instead of being retargeted automatically. It just annoys me.

Bad Mojo maybe?
Exploration and few very basic&easy puzzles.
Story is interesting, but game itsellf is very short when you know what exactly to do and go straight for endgame objectives without any exploration.
Firs playthrough - great
second and onwards - theres not really any point beside seeing alternative ending.
Crystalis is a great overlooked game for the NES. Starts with a bit of grinding, but it's not bad, just slows the story slightly in the beginning. But it's a good adventure game with a lot of RPG aspects. Medium length for its time. Worth a shot
If you liked Final Fantasy then play the Phantasy Star games. If you speak moon then play Cyberdoll. It's one of the best JRPGs on the Saturn.
