They are not bad, the difficulty is just lopsided.
I had a lot of fun with Bart vs Space Mutants, Virtual Bart, Bart's Nightmare.

There's a lot of fucking terrible /vr/ Simpsons games like Krusty's Funhouse but the arcade game will always be a great time. It's pretty amazing it's so good considering the show itself was still in its first season and finding its feet.

The controls are fucked up, but once you get use to them and you figure out that holding the jump button after jumping, lets you run, it's not that bad.

Yeah, it was pretty cool in that "interactive cd rom" era kind of way. Not really a "game" as such, but a fun toy if you were a Simpsons fan back in the day.
I used to browse it in between playing Simpsons Doom.

I used to rent Virtual Bart a lot as a kid. Loved the tomato throwing level and the slide especially. The baby level would've been fine if not for the music. The rest were OK but nothing special. I do also realize it's not a good game overall.

Not console, but I loved the arcade game so much as a kid.

Replayed it recently and felt it didn't hold up, the gameplay is just so shallow, even for a beat-em-up. Shame.

Krusty's Super Fun House and Virtual Bart were probably the more decent ones of those that I played, although I have started to realize in recent years that Virtual Bart's kinda crap (music's alright too)

There were, they just aren't retro. Simpsons hit and run and "the simpsons game" were both pretty great. Virtual Bart was a favorite of mine as a kid, I still feel a lot of the minigames hold up in that.
