What is this...
>>
Jesus fuck that's sick.
>>
>>3247989
Why would you pay someone to photoshop these images together? Surely you could teach yourself to do this level work in short time.
>>
>>3247990
It was this person's choice to do that "work," on shitty reproduction cartridges that are barely worth 50 bucks IF they are a game that's in high demand, like the Legend of Zelda and F-Zero 2 repros for SNES off Satellaview.

Star Fox 2 maybe, with FX chip, is about 75 dollars.

I wouldn't pay 50 fucking dollars for pokemon flashed onto a SNES cart with a 2 dollar sticker and shitty paint on the cartridge.

I was interested in picking up Blue and Red on the SNES because I had seen a reproduction. I was thinking they were going to be 50-75 dollars like the other custom cartridges of popular games.

And then I found this person asking 4,000 dollars on Ebay.

Are you guys really surprised? After all, the market value of pokemon games is far too low for how good they are.
>>
>>3248135
These people are just fucking insane.

What's worse is that seller
>>3247990
Specifically acting like the job they did is worth 4,000 dollars.
>>
>>3248135
>>3248138
There are vehicles made from scratch for 1,000 and 4,000 dollars.

4,000 dollars is down payment on a fucking home.

And that person thinks someone is going to spend that for 6 shitty cartridges and custom printed paper?

It's a port man. You can port the gameboy Pokemon games to NES as well. I don't know how they do it, but I know it's not 4,000 or even 1,000 dollars of effort, no matter how many stickers and paint you put on a cartridge.
>>
>>3248161
I have a Thai bootleg famicom cartridge with the same ROM on it that cost me a whole six dollars. Sadly it doesn't have the sweet anime tiddies on the label though.

To baby boomers paying someone else to do work for you is the same thing as doing the work yourself. It's why they outsourced all our manufacturing jobs.
>>
When you have a market filled with newbies who don't know jack shit about what they're doing, it can be pretty easy to make a quick buck. Skyrocketing prices and hack jobs like this are a result of uneducated buyers desperately buying things without doing research.

Well, at least in this case, hopefully he doesn't sell any of them. With 70 watchers, though, I bet at least some of people are actually considering a purchase.

Wait. Judging from this, he didn't even make them. He just paid people to make box art, paid other people to print the boxes and labels, and then...what? His 'work' was to glue the labels onto the carts?

Anyways he could very easily get sued by Nintendo for using their official art and selling it for that much. Maybe someone should lodge a complaint, although I think he might only be able to get taken to court if someone actually buys the carts.

Actually, that looks EXACTLY like a proto PSX game would. Either that's the best Proto repro I've ever seen, or it's legit. Seriously protos for review (this one says GameSpot) look EXACTLY like this. I have a few.

Seems like he's just joking though. I should buy it and pay with Zimbabwe dollars.
>>
>>3249798
I assume the price is what it is because of the developer disc. While neat, the fact that it is dated two weeks before what gamefaqs lists as release date means it is almost definitely just the final game and maked it harder to confirm as legit. And yeah, CD-R based protos typically aren't going to be worth too much unless it is a very popular game, if there is some indication that it is a pre-final version, or if it comes on a propietary disc (like Sega MEGA CD-Rs or Saturn CD-Rs or Dreamcast GD-Rs).
>>
>>3249816

Well, this is unfair, since I'm the guy with the museum, buuuut, it does contain my collection. I started the damned museum to get this shit outa my house, but it's now exponentially larger and doing more important stuff.....

Aaaaanyway; Here's photos of my stuff--

There's stories behind all of these sets if anyone cares. Again, Laney Flea, Oakland is responsible for most of it. Good stuff is in piles, never on tables.

And of course, the greatest videogame flea haul EVER: https://www.flickr.com/photos/vonguard/sets/72157604647023310/

Not sure what protos are in those shots. Probably none. I have GTA 2 for PC, though, and Rockstar rules. It has a picture of old women in bathing suits on the CD and sleeve. Other protos include Junction for Genesis, a ton of PC protos (hand labeled cds) and a handful of handheld protos, blank carts with hand written labels.

>>3249893
Yeah but you literally mentioned PSX protos so that's what I would have liked to know.

Can you be more specific with the PC stuff? Any chance you're going to dump the non-final stuff or you just sit on your financial insurance?
>>
>>3249929
LOL, none of these are non-final, they're all review copies. We've checked. Only interesting things about them is the hand writing. I'll dig em out and photograph em at some point.
>>
>>3249930
Review copies are often non-final (some times post final), or with cool stuff like debug modes enabled because it's obviously not the pressing master they distribute to magazines.
>>
>>3249938
I've worked in this industry a long time. If we had anything not already out there, we'd dump it. We have already dumped a lot of things into the public domain. We'll work diligently to dump even the stuff that we don't think is anything special, but for now, we're focused on other things.
>>
>>3249938
If you want something to dig through, watch these:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/vonguard/sets/72157628341676485/

We published those a few years back and they have tons of pre-release footage no one has really gone through and documented yet.
