Damn, that color scheme Civ3 is as 2000s as it gets when you compare it to the more watery 90s palette of Civ2.

I always find this a bit silly, Soldier of Fortune for the PC isn't retro, but the Dreamcast port released a year later is.

This game predates XP (unlike Civ3) so I guess it could be allowed.

Really, it's more of a bias against PC games. PC has a hard cutoff date, while consoles get to push the date a couple years or so. IMO, certain PC games very close to the date should get a bit of a pass, particularly if they use stylization or techniques that fell out of favor or were dying around their release.
Diablo 2, Deus Ex, and Civ 3 would all be great games to discuss here, as would C&C TS and RA2. Polite sage for against the rules though.
