Once there was an arcade game made using actual rock music from the band Aerosmith. It had ports to both the SNES and Genesis.

Question is, why did the Genesis have such laughably shit sound capabilities?
genesis uses fm syth which can't do 'voices' (snippets of recorded sound) but the snes is. Genesis can do much more with its sound than displayed in that crappy port job, even so, does the snes one really sound better to you? It's super muffled, low quality and repeats the same bit over and over because that's all they can fit on the cart (voices take up more room than synth which takes up almost no room).
Better use of the synth for a real song

and snes can't do stuff like this very well:

and shit like this:

or this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkPa1V-yKDM&list=PL766DEBB4713E7D2A
but can do stuff like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8Q0s95SRXM&list=PL224CFF3B77A60C49
note the use of samples of instruments instead of synth?
Anyway bait or not that's why they sound different.

It's beyond bait, this exact same thread/op has been posted and deleted about five times today.
I really, really hope it's a script or bot or something. The thought of people this fucking autistic actually existing is legitimately frightening.
>>3195908
that's why i saged anon
Why would you even play Revolution X on SNES or Genesis? The Saturn and PS1 ports not only have true CD audio, they're much more faithful to the arcade game.
at the end of the day, you can throw spec all you want about either console...
but not every anons ears will hear the exact same thing anyway and thats a fact,
same as every anon will not perceive things with the same visual clarity regardless of muh CRT or muh emulated filters
but on a more personal note.. i was playing flashback on the SNES the other day and desu i prefer the GENESIS sounds
>>3195913
Better yet, why would you play a shitty american arcade at all when Time Crisis and Virtua Cop existed?
>>3195880
why even compare
SNES soundcard works like a low quality recording device
Genesis soundcard works like a keyboard piano
oh look, its this thread for the 30th time this month
nintendorks must get off to being told how wrong they are on a daily basis
Why is this guy so desperate? It's always the same post and it's always the same aerosmith song. You might want to get a life, friend.

He just really really really really really really really really likes the SNES and wants everyone to know it.
The Genesis could be so cringy at times...

MAKE IT STOP

Pretty sure it's some psycho guy from nesdev forum, he has been obsessed by genesis vs snes stuff lately and is kinda weird like that.

lightening force is like the best damn show of how rockin the genesis synth chip is
If anyone here plays Genesis games but always wished they sounded more like the SNES, here's how you do it:
Take the headphone out and plug it into the input of a modular synth low-pass filter module. One with a transistor ladder design is recommended for our purposes, like the one pictured. Those are the best. Now set muffling to taste by turning down the cutoff frequency knob in the counter-clockwise direction. Once that is done we must next we must eliminate DAT BASS and any offending percussion sounds as much as possible. To do this plug the output of the lowpass filter into the input of a multimode filter module. We set the module to highpass filter mode and start with the cutoff frequency knob at far counter-clockwise and slowly adjust it in the clockwise direction until the bass/rhythm section is less offending to jrpg-conditioned ears. The multimode filter module's output can then be plugged into a stereo setup, etc. Hope this was helpful.

I never realized this until you pointed it out, whew lad you showed me.
>>3197467
only bad genesis games are like that. if it's a game that had a good composer , specially one that knows how to deal with genesis fm sound chip it sounds really upbeat and cool.
>>3200380
nobody cares about what its capable of, ppl only care about what was actually done with it and in this case most genesis games sound bad
>>3200447
Genesis games did not sound that bad, you are just basing your opinion on shit emulator dumps that sound nothing like the real hardware.
And even when SNES games sound better, they play worse, so it all comes around in the end.
>>3200461
>they play worse
How so?
>>3200461
each of the 3 main genesis's systems sound a little different.
Repeatedly making this exact thread has to violate a rule, any rule. Right?
>>3200468
>3 main genesis's systems
There can only be one
