I could have done without the reloading because the game is super easy but the L Button knife makes the game a hell of a lot less of menu blooping, backtracking simulator.

DS version is a great version, but it is not the classic RE.

Every 3D model was re-done from scratch.
Zombies have a new AI and are harder to dodge.
Player has two new moves: 180° turn and being able to use the knife at all times without it taking place in inventory (RE4 style).

Otherwise it's a great version. You can skip cutscenes AND doors. You can hack the game to switch playable characters around and play with any model from both alpha and beta teams.

New "DS" mode is shit though. The first person knife fights are awful on every aspect, and they replaced good puzzles with touchscreen shit which play like educational games for toddlers.

For speedrunning its nice because of able to skip cut scenes which makes for 30min+ runs. Ill have to say ps1 is the best port tho. This is coming from a speedrunner. Dream cast looks pretty good, but its horribly slow.
