>dust covered consoles

Spot the bandwagon collector.
>>3172665
Pros:
>Nice stand, looks slick
Cons:
>Virtual Boy legs are on BACKWARDS. Nintendo logo on the badge on the legs should be facing you.
>Tons of fucking handhelds that are just stacked sloppily
>Stacking consoles sloppily on top of others
>stacking anything on top of anything
>Consoles hanging off the sides
>PS4 and PS3 look ready to fall at any instant
>Really badly aged NES and SNES, do some anti-aging or get new ones
>Black Wii, with silver stand
>Stand is torn up on the bottom left, carpet looks disgusting and worn
>>3172665
Handhelds and consoles go in separate sections.
You have black consoles mixed up with gray/white/silver consoles, instead of separating them into neatly conforming areas.
You have way too much shit on that TV stand and need a larger one or more stands around it.
old pic but idgaf
>>3172685
Pros:
>Nice gaming area, looks comfortable
Cons:
>Shit all over the place. Wires hanging out everywhere, weird box thing that everyone tries to get that fits one console per shelf spot with huge overhead areas that are wasted, tons of wasted space in some of those cubes
>Lots of random shit on the walls
>Way too much room dedicated to simply cases, looks like a collector who never plays his games
>Fucking glass display case of random shit that doesn't matter and no one needs to stand at and look at in a glass case
>shitty uncomfortable looking couch that's way too close to the TV
>outdated TV
>>3172685
>he paid 100 dollars for wireless sega genesis controllers and wireless NES controllers
>>3172674
>implying
Everything was cleaned before the picture was taken. At worst, you see fingerprints on shit
Nothing is "hooked up" because I move SD consoles to my Trinitron when playing. I'm not playing on a plasma.
There is a special place in hell for those who keep their controllers plugged in, and not put away safely.
>>3172685
Comfy enough. I like the glass display case in the back
>>3172685
more pics of that (arcade?) board under N64/GC gamepads shelf please
Not the first time I posted my battlestation in one of these threads, but it's always nice to hear some feedback.
>>3172847
Not that anon. It's a Super Advantage SNES stick.
>>3172685
I like your TV anon and the stand anon
I've posted before, lots not pictured and could be organized better. Just no time and haven't been home cause of uni, almost done though and I have a few ideas.
>>3172852
Looks comfy m8
>>3172879
whats with all the shitty sports games for genesis?
not retro, but I have that same 3ds and I love it
>>3172879
classic black, crt, nice but needs cabinets or shelves,
>>3172995
>whats with all the shitty sports games
Sports fans bought sports games?
I am outgrowing my humble setup.
>>3172879
What a clusterfuck. How do you get to anything without knocking everything over?
>>3172995
I have all my good ones up at uni with me; Shining force 1&2, PS 2&3, Warsong, shining in the darkness, MK2, Toejam and Earl, a couple others. But the sports games were just what we got growing up mang, I was a three sport athlete and so were my brothers.
I wish I could upload the panorama pic because I got another neat CRT and more stuff in the room that's neat that you can't see.
>>3173387
I know, if I got a long short shelf to sit on top of the cabinet I think it'd look good, it's one of my current ideas to invest in.
>>3172995
Also, which 3ds haha the Pokemon one of the Zelda one. Poke one is a Jap release.
>>3173387
>nickelodeon clock
great taste, anon. got the same one. dont know how much of a nostalgiafag you are, but that setup seems like its straight out of the 2000. very nice.
minus theps2ofc.
>>3173602
P EZ, since I know where everything is and I rotate around how it's setup with what I'm playing. Ps1 is easiest to grab since I'm finishing up the remainder of my SRPGs and JRPGs; vanguard bandit, Kartia, and Arc 2
>>3173387
This looks comfy as hell by the way.
Here's mine. Any input is appreciated
>>3173660
WOAH HOLD UP HERE WHATS UP WITH THAT TINY DOOR OR ARE YOU A GIANT!?
>>3173678
indeed i am.
Nah, it's just a storage closet. I keep my controllers in bins in there. The roof just continues to slant down along the ceiling into the closet. Pretty impractical design but it suits my purposes just fine. Here's a slightly bigger pic so you can see better.
>>3173691
Haha figured, but in seriousness, pretty fuckin sweet set up my dude.
>>3173698
Thanks, anon. I love it. Pretty darn comfy

I didnt even see the zelda one at first
>>3172665
Wall of stuff.
All these consoles with shit not plugged in
>>3173890
Yee, I'm planning on learning the basic moon runes and building off that this summer, one of the ways I'll test and write and translate lines is through games, on the jap 3ds and a NTSC-J PS1 that's on an I pictured shelf; plan on doing FF 4 through 9 over a long period if time permits it and I don't learn too slowly. I know the games really well, and I learn extremely quickly, so I figure With something fairly complex like learning moon runes, If I focus at it and if I find ways to incorporate my hobbies into it that I'll be able to eventually stumble through it.
So many jap exclusive games that I want to appreciate.
>>3173961
That tv is fuckin neat-o
old setup had PVM but currently working on making it a PC monitor...
>Actually prefer this tho for snes and other consoles.
I hung the TV in the closet and then filled with crates full of systems.

i found this beautiful trinitron in the streets a few month ago, sadly i couldn't fix it's horizontal line issues, so i had to let it lose.

Yes. I've only got House of the Dead 2, but I do play it pretty frequently with a friend. Haven't beaten it yet though. We suck.

>>3175101
Your speakers need to be at ear level. They'll sound like garbage if they're on the floor like that. I can't be bothered to find speaker stands either so my sound systems are 100% floorstanders.
Why do you people have both a PS1 and PS2?Should I be playing my PS1 games on a PS1?
>>3175062
>k'nex n64 game rack
Neat idea. Pretty good setup overall, but I'd get a better tv stand and get those consoles off the floor
I had been receiving some flak about no shelves, so I went balls deep and fixed that upon returning from Uni.
>>3179847
Twins Story hangs when played on a PS2.
I have a small corner to work with in my office. So far I have this TV stand I recently received along with the TV. I don't want it give up the stand for sentimental reasons, same for the TV, so for now I connect the systems and disconnect and store away when needed. Anyone have ideas for some stand or anything that can work to house about 4-8 systems? Just seeing what ideas you all have before I take a trip to Ikea or any other store.

It's actually pretty open, I left out the pic of the fourth corner. I mainly lay on a queen sized bed that takes up said corner, but there's like a five by seven foot opening at the foot of the bed. But regardless I respect the feel, I just like the cave aspect of it. In the basement with all my vidya, truly enjoyable. Hopefully the MCAT goes well and leads me onto med school so not only will I have the job of my dreams but I'll be able to build a spectacular cave where even a man such as you shall not feel crowded.
>>3176312
>>3179182
I like the bottom pic too, nice and minimal - your favorite console and a few of your favorite games, no bullshit, no collector faggotry, no games that aren't being played, rotting on a shelf.
Definitely needs a couch or something though.
I like this one for the same reasons
>>3173961
P-please be kind. I'm sorry there's so much grain and how overly lit it is, Zenfone 2 camera is kinda trash in too bright/too dark.
Yes, SNES and NES have some aging (NES mostly), but I'm fine with it.
>Info:
Composite: NES (Front), SNES, N64, PS1 (over Digital Multi-Cable)
Component: Wii (but limited to 480i; doesn't matter, it uses one of the available ports.)
Wii/GC Games off Backup HDD, everything else is carts/CDs.
CRT is a Sony WEGA KV-32FS120 (32"). Got some weird curving issue on a portion of the screen, but otherwise is nice. Will be replaced whenever I get an LED + Framemeister.
>>3172665

Netherlands, about 95% of the buildings here dont have basements.

>>3181198
So how do you explain all the basements built before the advent of the A-bomb?
>>3181179
NY
Too poor to have one
>>3181226
Furnished basements were incredibly rare before the mid 20th century, even in the US. Many older houses that have basements today were originally built with cellars.
I would love a basement for my stuff, right now its all in the attic.
But with those arched walls it leaves little space for framed retro game posters.
>>3181471

I'm trying to get my own battle station up and running currently. Only thing I'm waiting on is getting some video switches so that I can hook up all my consoles to the TV at the same time since my Trinitron only has one set of outputs.
Can any of you guys recommend a good one for svideo? I had one picked out, the JVC JX - s333 which I like because it converts the video signal to ypbpr, but strangely I can't seem to find it being sold anywhere, not even second-hand. Anyone know anything similar?

>>3184843
I'm sorry, but I'm always triggered by people who keep their games in the cardboard boxes. It tells me a number of things. One is that they're likely a collector who specifically overpaid for cardboard, since nobody actually kept their boxes from their childhood game collections. The other is that you value the collection over the game playing, because the box doesn't offer any actual protection or convenience in storing the game, and actually just takes up space and makes it more of a hassle to take out a game and play it.
>>3184812
Wait... are those cardboard boxes... inside plastic boxes?
>>3185826
Yeah, it's these acrylic cases for game boxes. Kinda surprised that's your first exposure to them.

>since nobody actually kept their boxes from their childhood game collections
Not everybody was 5 when they played their N64 games.
Did someone say battlestations
>>3185838
This. I was 12 when I got my n64 so by then I know better. It's the boxes to my NES and SNES games that got junked save for a few exceptions.
>>3185871
That's right, they did. So why did you post some shelves instead of your TV like everyone else?
>>3185838

Actually, I did save all of my N64 game boxes, and I was also 12 when I got my N64. I've had them collapsed in a storage bin for years. I still have a few of my SNES boxes as well. I never actually kept my games in them, though, what the hell is the point? It's illogical on all fronts, unless you're a collectorfag and are just showing off. The damn carts themselves are more durable than the boxes, and if you're such a tool that you buy plastic boxes to store your cardboard boxes in like this guy >>3185831, that's even more hilarious. All it does is make it that much more inconvenient to actually play your games.
>>3185871
>SNES games stacked vertically
>N64 games stacked vertically with no end labels
>no TV/monitor
Blegh.
>>3185872
I actually have the box to my copy of Zelda 2, somewhere, only because I got it phenomenally late. I think my mom got it for me as a Valentine's Day present in 1997. It's weird to think that NES games were still available at regular retail that late.
Trying to find a good way to hook all this up without making it look like shit
>>3185872
Yeah? You "knew better"? Let me tell you something, you little autistic faggot: no one kept the damn cardboard boxes video games came in at any age, unless the person was a full grown adult. Why? Because nobody was enough of a moron to keep literal garbage in their rooms and houses, because cardboard boxes get torn open and get weak and flimsy, which is the same reason MISB toy collectors are idiots. You like keeping a fucking comingled recycling bin on your shelf? No, you only do it because you and your millennial hipster shit friends assigned value to that crap. So yeah, have fun telling lies on an Oriental knitting website about how you were "smart" and "knew better" than other people to keep literal, worthless garbage on hand (just like your mother did with you, genetics am I right?), while the rest of us, the REAL gamers and oldfags know your a lying sack of semen who just used daddy's Visa on eBay to buy Earthbound and try and look cool to the NEET neckbears on 4chan. Fuck you.
And this

>>3185897
Yes, I knew better. In 1997 I joined a game trading website and it became immediately apparent that having the box and/or instructions made your product more desirable and valuable. No reason to get mad at me that the "garbage" you so hastily threw out is now worth double-digit dollars.
>>3185897
Oof. I'm anti-cardboard and even I think you need to dial it back a little.
>>3185895
You need a massive A/V receiver, and you need to bundle and zip-tie cables together along the backs of your shelving units as much as possible. Run everything to the back of your receiver and make sure it's tucked away. It will be a pain if you ever need to unhook anything, but that's the price you pay. And of course that only works if you're doing basic video formats like composite, component or s-video. If you're going the RGB route, your options become even more limited.
>>3185924
>the "garbage" you so hastily threw out is now worth double-digit dollars
It's a weird thing.I have all of my N64 boxes and most of my SNES boxes. I wouldn't sell them because they're mine, but I also wouldn't dare pay for them if I were buying a retro game because they're fucking cardboard. The only people that actually care about the boxes are resellers and collector scum. I don't ever plan on reselling my game collection, so they're actually still just worthless cardboard to me.
I suppose if I'm ever in a pinch I can sell just my garbage on ebay to some pathetic millennial hipster. Probably worth a month or two of rent.

holy shit i played a l;ot of top gear rally as a kid. my neighbor had south park rally but it wasn't that good.
>>3185979
>my neighbor had south park rally
I often overlook how much of my video gaming experiences were shared with neighbors and friends. Borrowing and renting games was a big deal back then, it's how I played a lot of stuff that I never actually owned. I'd say that mentality is dead, but honestly, proper gaming as a whole is dead among the younger demographic. Anyone still playing consoles is probably old enough to buy their own games and not have to rent/borrow.
When I was little, my mom was very reluctant to buy an N64. My neighbor got one (he was a fucking spoiled shit), but he got the worst fucking games. Killer Instinct and Mortal Kombat. Why two fighting games? He probably thought Mario was for babies or something.
>>3186020
I used to play Killer Instinct at one of my friends house. But our most played game was the wrestling ones. The mixed kid had NWO vs WCW and I had all the good WWF games. My neighbor across the street had the one shitty WWF game on n64.
And there is probably still kids that play games split screen. The xbox 360 had plenty of split screen games for todays youngfags. Heard some games are dropping splitscreen on new consoles and tells users to play online now.
But yeah, I'm kinda like you. If a neighborhood kid had a game there wasn't much reason to buy the same fucking game as him when you can just go over there and play it. Together in total in the neighborhood we all probably had a good majority of the n64 library. We also together had good portion of the good snes games as well.

>implying the glow of my crt and the one lamp I have in the room is going to damage the boxes in the slightest.
I keep the blind in this room closed. No actual sunlight is actually touching any of this
>>3185823
I actually prefer both the collecting and game playing aspects of the hobby. Also I'm not some eBay fag buying things at full price. I hold out for deals and trade with local folks who can also appreciate both sides of the hobby.
I'm sorry you get so triggered by such trivial things such as other people's interests.
>>3186110
And I'm sorry you're scum.
>>3186120

What the fuck did I walk into?

>made one single post in days
>accusing me of admiting to "collecting"
Fuck off retard
Also, Collecting is a byproduct of playing games on actual hardware. You literally can't do one without doing the other.
Fucking hell. I don't know where you anti-collector retards came from, but I wish you would all leave. /vr/ didnt have this problem when it was first made.
I'm beginning to suspect that you're all resellers who are butthurt you can't add more shit to your inventory.

What an odd reaction? It's curious when people react this way.
>>3186178
Jesus man. If you're going to emulate at least use something accurate.
>>3186183
Snes9x is the 2nd most accurate emulator. Idk wtf you're bitching about. Also, speed > accuracy.
>>3186204

kek. its funny to me how you are actually satisfied with this and say it like it's a good thing.
>>3186204
I can't play real retro consoles, I need that framerate++++++
>>3186169
Go back to your cardboard boxes, you degenerate.
>>3186208
Too many people using ZSNES think it's good. It's fucking garbage.

Top Gear really is a game I rented exactly once as a kid and it always stood out in my mind as a really good game. I would later get the sequel, Top Gear Overdrive, but it just wasn't as fun and I eventually ended up trading that. When I finally discovered a retro game store in my area, TG Rally is the first game I bought from it. It was still as fun as I remembered it and I'd say it's an unsung gem of the N64 library.
>>3179635
Emulator shitters anon
>>3186809
I really hope you mean it's because the collectors shit on emulators. When this board came out, people were pretty much strictly emulating. Remember gauntlet threads? Remember guess the game from the screen shot? Those were the days. Sorry to tell you, real console folks ruined this board.

This! Def looks like a store, except that window points to it being a basement.
>>3179172
Maybe he's just a hippy. They are pretty much girls.

Subterranean retro store? If I could tunnel there from my basement and get hot pockets delivered I'd never leave home.

I remember seeing a brand new copy of Super Mario Bros 3 at Kmart in 2002 for $59 or whatever price it had from the 90s. I didn't buy it, but looking back, it might have been on clearance but I didn't ask to check. Also on a related note, found a brand new PS2 Memory Card at the same Kmart a few months back, rang up as 75 cents.
>>3185953
>garbage
Same. I don't go out of my way to get the boxes for for games I buy now, but I do have many boxes of my childhood games stashed in my closet. Should I ever find the need to sell the, that box & instruction booklet means a difference of sixty more dollars for my copy of Harvest Moon 64.

I've heard good things about the Sony SB-V40S.
>>3187805
My mom used to buy us little things on Valentine's day. I mean, we used to make her cards and shit, so why shouldn't she reciprocate? I should mention this is back when I was like, 10, and a copy of Zelda 2 probably cost all of 15 bucks at K Mart or whatever, at the time. It was never a very big present.
>>3186921
>found a brand new PS2 Memory Card at the same Kmart a few months back, rang up as 75 cents.
That's awesome.
>>3187279

Hah. I just gave my box for HM64 to a friend, along with a stack of others. He has a collection and loves to display stuff, so I figured he'd love it. He said I could have them back if I ever wanted them, but... eh.
>>3179172
I do have a GF though.

>>3188776
I haven't played a ton, prolly 5 hours or so, but it seems neat from what I've played and looks good. It's long as shit I'm pretty sure. I started it during my fall semester and things got rather intense classwise and kind of forgot I started it.
>>3188776
Also I'm pretty sure it's a rather cheap pick up.
basement guy again, i got bored the other day and connected a few game systems on top of the dressers full of cartridges. (need to wait until the electrical is installed before i can setup the rest of the area)
