Some games actually benefitted from the Genesis sound chip. The Earthworm Jim soundtrack for example sounds way...funkier than on the SNES, where it sounds like it's being played in a wool sock.

this was me. I hated the snes though, it was slower and the sound effects (especially in fighting games) had this weird muffled noise. Some even had this strange out-of-place echo sound effect.

its easy now, with HD monitors playing roms on pc, to poke fun at the genesis graphics (like street fighter 2) but 20+yrs ago, when all u had was the RF cable hooked up to an old CRT tv with scan lines the size of my thumb nail, it all looked the same.

my cousin and I could pick out of the differences in the sound, but each port that came out had advantages on each system. Laugh all u want, only proves u werent there to enjoy it, cause it didnt suck as bad as u think.

ps I played through stimpy's invention, it has some good music in it and the map song posted is a simple interlude between levels meant to make you feel ready, not a direct adaptation like some of the snes games have (which by the way sounds like muffled shit)

Honestly, the SNES and Genesis shouldn't even be compared... as really the SNES was .5 generations ahead hardware-wise. Hell, the DKC series was able to fight PS1 sales briefly, while the Genesis was still using a Master System sound chip and 3 button controller with a 64 onscreen color palette. It's like comparing a Dreamcast to a Gamecube. Not comparable.
