The Mario Show with Lou Albano live action sections was amazing, I have pretty good memories of waking up early in the morning and having breakfast while watching that show before going to school.
The live section parts were probably the best and most hilarious, while the cartoon part probably weren't as good, but they did the job for a kid like me at the time.
I remember liking all of them including the SMB3 ones (which I think lacked the live action), but I never got into the SMW cartoon, I remember watching it a few times and it never clicked, barely remember anything about it other than Yoshi being there.

As for Sonic, I enjoyed Adventures of Sonic but I remember being disappointed that it wasn't SatAM, since I had previously watched the intro to that one on a VHS before, and I was pretty hyped, it made it seem as the best cartoon ever, and it was based on Sonic.
Turns out SatAM was aired some other day and time (not from US so no, not saturdays), but I think I ended up enjoying AoS more, SatAM wasn't all that good outside of the intro, I think. AoS wasn't amazing either but it was more entertaining in a looney toons way.

Then I watched the OVAs, many years later, which IMO are the best Sonic animation out there.

As a kid I also enjoyed some other anime, like the Street Fighter II movie, Fatal Fury, SF Alpha, the Virtua Fighter anime series, among others.
I always wanted to watch Vampire Hunter and I just never did, despite being a fan of the games. Been meaning to watch them for a long time but I'm just lazy to watch anime these days.

I was all about Sonic SatAM. I'd get so hyped I'd get up early and sit through the shit I didn't care about to not miss a second when it started. Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog was way too slapstick and goofy for my tastes. I wanted a Sonic that had attitude like the games. Sonic Underground made me die a little inside.

I watched Super Mario Bros Super Show like an addict too. It was on back to back with Dragonball so it was win-win to me.

Earthworm Jim and Donkey Kong Country were rad as fuck too, though that is coming from someone who hasn't seen it in 20 years.

I watched the Zelda, Street Fighter 2, Mega Man, Mario 3 and Captain N cartoons many years later and was grateful I missed them. Though it does make me appreciate scenes like this in a way I never would as a child: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kemK91EKExs

Earthworm Jim remains probably the best vidya-related cartoon. I own it on DVD and I can tell you that it still holds up.

Strangely I remember watching SatAM but not the other show; mostly likely I would not have been watching TV when it aired on weekdays (Mom would always tape the Saturday morning cartoons and my brothers and I would watch them over and over all week until the next Saturday). I distinctly remember seeing parts of certain SatAM episodes though, and have since re-watched the entire series, and even got the DVD set for my nephew!

I also remember exactly one scene from the Mario Bros show, where the gang is walking down this stony stairwell inside a castle or something, but I've never rewatched the show to find out what episode this was from.

I'm also going to count ReBoot as a /vr/ cartoon; a quick google search reveals it was later a PlayStation game but even without that, let's be honest, it fits in perfectly.

Living in a Sega area, Mario was thought of as a cartoon character around here. Took me a while to learn about the games. Wearing a Mario T-shirt prompted 'do the Mario!' comments from kids.

That's a very upsetting title. Is it a good show?

As a kid I realized that my personality was more like Mike the TV than anyone else in fictional media.

So yeah, I fixed that.

Yeah I know the "fur" part would be seen as negative nowadays, but yeah it was a charming show for little kids. I think the setting and characters would make a great Capcom platformer similar to chip and dale and the like.

Ditto with the super Mario super show. Never watched it on tv. But I rented the shit out of it at blockbuster when it went to VHS and DVD
>>

I was a fanatic for the SatAM show. I too would get up stupidly early (for me as a lazy kid) to watch it. I never missed a single episode. Was pretty disappointed when they canceled it. Also, was really surprised at the one episode where the style and mood changed dramatically to match the lighthearted and goofy tone of the Archie comics. Guess I should have taken that as a sign.

Man, Nintendo has so many great original character that everyone knows, the fact that they barley make any cartoons or anime pisses me off sometimes,

I would say there's some truth in that. Kid me wanted to like it but it was just all a bit grey and serious and too far removed from the games for my taste. Adventures lacked any game resemblancr but was awesome for robotnik alone.

SatAM robotnik > AoStH robotnik

In fact, the whole show of SatAM is better than AoStH. I still loved AoStH, but the other one was more interesting and robotnik was competent.
>>
>>3154873
I'll take AoSTH's comedy and lightheartedness over SATAM's edginess and melodrama.

Also Long John Baldry is better than Jim Cummings who sounds like Dr. Claw with a cold.

I live in a state that was perpetually behind the rest of the world until the turn of the century. Video games never really boomed here until the early 90's when the Sega Master System 2 was out and the rest of the world was already enjoying the Mega Drive.

That state cannot be found on this map.

I watched through most of SMBSS on Netflix a few months ago, but stopped when I got to the point where they replaced the live-action Mario and Luigi segments with tryhard awesomely radical 90s kids. Do the cartoons get good enough to compensate and make the rest of the show worth watching, or did I get while the getting was good?

Snively was the only one who knew what he was doing for the villains. IIRC he even cheers in the final episode because Robotnik is beaten so he can actually start winning after he teams up with Ixis Naugus.
