I'd have to go with almost all Command & Conquer games honestly. Tiberians sun had a cool enough campaign and Generals had a couple of great gameplay mechanics but that's about it.

I think I've mentioned it before but I still don't get how this is a "Zelda killer" in any way. Never mind that it came at least 6 years after the fact, aside from the puzzles it doesn't do anything well at all, and I certainly wasn't impressed by the grimdark animu plot either.

Resident Evil. I've never understood why this below-mediocre franchise was always so hyped. Aside from 4, which was pretty fun.

To me it proved that the reason games are as they are today is because casuals prefer movie style action games. MGS1 was pretty much the founding father of all that is unholy with modern gaming and it shows.

I don't think "setting that slowly goes to shit over the course of the plot" is a trope exclusive to anime. Also I recall it having a few lighthearted moments so that it doesn't completely venture into "grimdark" territory.

Lots of N64 kiddos who only know of Treasure because their parents bought them Mischief Makers on a whim and didn't care to look at the rest of the games by the same developer.

Likewise, lots of Gamecube kiddies whose first (and only) exposure to shmups was Ikaruga, who only like it for its style and OST.

That's why they're overrated games.

You don't have to believe me. It's just my own personal experience from interacting with other gamers. Very few MM fans won't give me a weird look when I bring up such gems as Alien Soldier or Guardian Heroes to talk about.

By the way, I'm a Mischief Makers fan and I'm a huge Alien Soldier fan as well, it's one of my favorites.

And there's a lot of fanboys anyway, it's as if I were saying "Guardian heroes is overrated by Saturn fans".... nah, the games are liked because people find them they're lots of fun to play and lots of attention where put by the devs, they stand out among other titles and have that treasure-feel (that I can understand might not be everyone's cup of tea, sometimes Treasure fans are a bit passionate, and that irritates people who don't like Treasure, especially the shmup fans who hate Ikaruga and RSG)

I seriously consider this to be one of the most over rated games ever made. The story goofy and doesn't fit the tone of the indian jones series as a whole. The dialog is stiff and poorly written. The bg music is horrible, even for the time. The puzzles are so obtuse and frustrating that even sierra would be ashamed. I don't get why people make out like this is such a great game. Also, yes, I do like adventure games, and I have played a lot of them.

On a more serious note, I have no idea what you are talking about. The story is great, the plot is nicely put together, the locations are good. The only bullshit puzzle I remember is one near the end when you needed to fuck around with the orchicalcum. The fact that it has multiple paths is what settled it for me that it's a damn good game.
